Raytheon’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking Senior Systems Engineers interested in Naval Radar engineering. Our Portsmouth, RI team primarily supports programs in the aval undersea and Naval surface domains, including sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, torpedoes, combat systems, and ship architecture/integration. Our Naval Radar engineers perform radar data analysis and tracking, develop and manage system requirements, integrate hardware and software, develop test plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, and verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and ensure our products work the first time and every time. Every day presents a different set of challenges to overcome. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partner to implement solutions while working autonomously with limited oversight. In this role, you'll get to know a little bit about every aspect of the system and have a direct hand in making it all work together, supporting teams of engineers engaged in integration and test efforts. This position requires technical expertise and the ability to make decisions independently to drive the success of complex projects.
What You Will Do
- Testing: Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and integration and verification documentation in both simulated and real-world environments.
- Troubleshoot and Analyze: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging.
- Integrate Systems: Integrate hardware and software into tactical systems and evaluate overall system functionality and performance.
- Drive Performance: Collaborate across functions to implement performance improvements and resolve system-level issues.
- Collaborate: Work closely with a multi‑disciplinary team to achieve seamless system integration and functional maturity.
- Document and Communicate: Develop system engineering requirement documentation, execute test plans, analyze results, verify requirements, and effectively communicate findings to leadership and stakeholders.
- Travel as Needed: Travel domestically to support customer events, with an expected travel requirement not exceeding 10%.
What You Will Learn
After completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, the candidate will be a part of a team supporting Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) activities across the product development lifecycle.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or other programing languages.
- Experience analyzing radar data for radar systems and/or developing analysis tools
- Experience performing system integration or design of core multi-function radar capabilities (e.g. AAW, BMD, etc.)
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with identifying root causes of system failures through detailed diagnostics, implementing timely fixes to restore functionality, and develop preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
- Experience presenting technical findings, analyses, and solutions to leadership and customers.
- Experience in developing design reports, and troubleshooting complex systems
- Experience with MBSE, DOORS, Rhapsody, Cameo, and/or other digital engineering tools.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
