Senior SMTA Engineer

We are now looking for a Sr. SMTA Engineer, located in Santa Clara, CA to join our dynamic and diverse team. As an SMT Subject Matter Expert, you will implement and enforce NVIDIA’s DFx, quality and reliability standards and ensure suppliers performance to these standards primarily during the development phases. You will be responsible for SMTA operational readiness and ensure products meet all quality and business KPI’s.


We design and produce advanced technology PCBA’s used in consumer, auto and enterprise solutions. Your technical and industry expertise will contribute to our ongoing success.  Reporting to SMTA Operations Senior Management, you will be based in Santa Clara.

What you will be doing:

  • Work with suppliers to baseline and enhance SMT processes to significantly improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.  

  • Establish and enforce Critical to Quality process control monitors and determine supplier’s manufacturing limits, critical process CpKs, and to drive significant improvements in product Quality and Reliability.

  • Review New Product Designs and partner with CM’s to perform DFx and process characterization, during the development phase, to ensure Mass Production launch readiness.  Provided feedback to NVIDIA design to optimize PCBA DFx.

  • Monitor SMT process data KPI’s on NPI and Pre-Production builds. Drive suppliers to corrective action and meet established six sigma quality goals. 

  • Transfer products from prototype to Mass Production.

  • Work with Contract Manufacturers and ODMs so that new materials and technologies are utilized and implemented effectively, and review and help improve manufacturing practices and processes at the assembly and system levels such that ensure significant improvements in Quality and Reliability are achieved.


What we need to see:

  • BS/MS or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Materials Sciences or Chemistry

  • 8+ years in the development and use of PCBA materials and SMTA manufacturing processes at the board assembly and system levels.

  • Extensive expertise in all PCBA Technologies and Manufacturing with a strong background in Quality and Supplier Management.

  • Proven expertise with complex PCB assemblies, materials, and Signal Integrity challenges with high-speed signal designs.

  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with various Hardware/Signal Integrity and Reliability Engineering Teams both domestic and offshore, and the ability to establish very close and respected relationships with these Teams.

  • The ability to be a self-driver with minimal supervision.

  • Good Leadership and oral/written communications skills.

  • High motivation and creative thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and English proficiency

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 148,000 USD - 235,750 USD for Level 4, and 184,000 USD - 299,000 USD for Level 5.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
