We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer supporting one of our premier programs within Raytheon, an RTX Business. In this role, you will provide senior technical leadership, systems architecture and design expertise, and integration and test support for Agile software development teams. Your experience developing satellite ground systems, translating complex customer requirements into capabilities, epics, features, and system interfaces, and leading systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle will be critical to delivering mission-critical solutions for our national security customers. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, technical leadership, customers, and subject matter experts to define solutions, resolve complex technical challenges, and drive program objectives to completion. The work is on-site in Richardson, TX.

What You Will Do

• Provide technical leadership and systems engineering expertise across the development, integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of complex satellite ground systems

• Lead mission thread-level activities by developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), system interface definitions, and technical solutions that refine enterprise capabilities

• Lead or provide technical direction for enterprise integration and test activities, including mission thread test events, test execution status, discrepancy report (DR) verification, and issue resolution

• Decompose complex customer requirements into capabilities, epics, features, and user stories using SAFe Agile methodologies

• Provide technical guidance, requirements clarification, and engineering direction throughout the software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and operations

• Lead the development and evaluation of system architectures, technical solutions, interfaces, and engineering products in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

• Analyze complex technical issues, identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and drive solutions to closure

• Serve as a senior technical interface with customers, program leadership, software engineering teams, systems engineers, and other technical subject matter experts

• Participate in and provide technical leadership during design reviews, technical interchange meetings, Agile ceremonies, customer engagements, and program milestone activities

• Support systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture development, functional analysis, interface definition and control, verification, validation, and operational support

• Provide technical mentorship and knowledge sharing to other systems engineers and contribute to the development of engineering best practices

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience

• Experience providing technical leadership for the development, integration, or sustainment of complex satellite ground systems on government or national security programs

• Experience developing system architectures, designs, capabilities, and features, including functional descriptions, interface definitions, requirements, and acceptance criteria

• Experience leading or supporting Agile software development as a Systems Engineer, including system design, integration, testing, verification, and validation activities, Experience providing technical leadership and working across multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and drive program objectives

• Active and transferable Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to the start date.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC) programs, preferably within the data processing domain

• Experience utilizing Agile engineering tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Jama

• Expereince supporting the development of large-scale software systems across the full systems engineering lifecycle

• Experience leading technical efforts across the full software development lifecycle within an Agile development environment

• Experience with cloud or hybrid cloud development and deployment environments

• Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes and tools, such as Cameo Systems Modeler or similar platforms, to capture system design and architecture

• Experience providing technical direction, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to systems engineering teams

• Experience leading technical reviews, customer engagements, and cross-functional engineering working groups

• Experience working with senior government customers and technical stakeholders

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
