The Opportunity
The Corporate Finance Services (CFS) Senior (Sr) Manager of Diagnostics will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual global consolidated financial results for the following Diagnostics Divisions (values represent 2025 net sales):

•              Core Dx - $5.4B

•              Point of Care - $606MM

•              Molecular - $517MM

This role is also responsible for coordinating internal/external audits and interactions with tax, while ensuring strong and effective financial controls are in place and executed.

The CFS Sr Manager will develop processes to make sure the financial statements are produced in accordance with GAAP and comply with all Sox requirements and all Abbott Corporate Policies and Procedures, and for all Divisional financial reporting requirements to Divisional Management and Corporate.  This individual will be responsible for day-to-day General Accounting (GA) operations and Financial Reporting for Molecular Diagnostics, Point of Care and Core Diagnostics including Hematology, Immunoassay and Clinical Chemistry (HIACC also called Core Lab) and Transfusion Medicine for blood plasma screening. The CFS Sr Manager leads a team of 4 people, 8 indirect reports and provides direction to an even larger team with Abbott’s outsource accounting provider, Genpact. Additionally, this individual is accountable for ensuring that the delivery of service commitment is met in line with agreed upon Service Level Agreements for the outsourced accounting provider.

What You’ll Work On

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Corporate and Divisional deadlines are met for Actuals reporting, and that the Division’s financial statements are accurately stated

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

  • Coordination between Financial Planning and Analysis, Corporate Financial Service, outsourced team and other functional areas to ensure effective month-end close and related reporting to Divisional Management and Corporate.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information through preparation of reports, general ledger entries and other financial transactions.

  • Interacts with internal customers, by meeting regularly and support them with financial policy interpretations and its applications to the business operations.

  • Manage balance sheet review process with FP&A and DVP on a monthly or quarterly basis as determined by division

  • Assist and support in the assessment of impact of business change initiatives.

  • Collects and reviews data requested by auditors (internal and external).

  • Leads the SOX scoping and coordinates the worldwide Division Sarbanes Oxley process with all the applicable Divisional and Corporate organizations, coordinate the Division’s internal and external audits, and Corporate Tax requests.

  • Monitor the internal control process and provide support and guidance for compliance with Corporate Finance Manual and internal controls.

  • Identifies, develops and implements processes to improve department performance.

  • Participate in process reviews as a part of continuous improvement activities.

  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration across process owners to implement standard, efficient processes.

  • Establishes and communicates accounting policies to staff by maintaining a thorough understanding of GAAP and new accounting guidance as appropriate.

  • Monitors daily work operations and provides direction and guidance to staff to achieve project goals.

  • Coach and mentor staff to perform effectively in their role.  Provide periodic touch points via 1:1s or other means to help the team further develop in their career and in their current role.

  • Complete ad hoc analysis, reviews or reports within Divisions and Corporate functions as necessary.

  • Directly support FP&A and DVP with accounting projects and initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. CPA or MBA preferred. 

  • 8-10 years of progressive accounting/financial experience.

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Apply professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve routine problems and exercise independent decision making.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as this role interacts with domestic and international organizations within Diagnostics Divisions, all Finance towers (including FP&A, Shared Services, CFS), and Divisional Sr. Management.

  • The individual must be highly motivated and can work independently.

  • Able to work under pressure, consistently meet deadlines and direct activities on several projects at one time.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong Microsoft Excel/Powerpoint skills and previous experience with HFM/SAP is a plus.

  • TM1 and Cognos/Global BI experience is a plus.

  • Audit experience preferred.

The base pay for this position is

$129,300.00 – $258,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
