The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is looking for a Senior Manager, Project Leadership, based in Alameda, CA. You will lead the planning, strategy, and execution of innovative Data Sharing and Digital Partnerships. Working across cross-functional teams, internally and externally with Partners, you will evaluate opportunities, prioritize investments, and drive the delivery of high-impact programs. In this role, you will lead complex, high-impact programs from concept through launch, ensuring alignment across stakeholders, timelines, and business objectives. This role will also supervise project leaders assigned to the portfolio.

What You’ll Work On

  • Lead the strategy, prioritization, and delivery of complex inter-company (Partnerships) Data Sharing initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and consumer needs.
  • Hire, manage, mentor, and develop Project Leaders, fostering a high-performing organization while providing leadership across cross-functional and matrixed teams.
  • Define and maintain program roadmaps, business cases, scope, schedules, budgets, and release strategies.
  • Drive portfolio prioritization and strategic decision-making, balancing business value, resource constraints, Partner considerations, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Partner with stakeholders across R&D, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and other functions from both ADC and external Partners to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Establish clear program objectives, success metrics, and KPIs, and hold teams accountable for results.
  • Proactively identify, assess, mitigate and escalate risks, issues, and dependencies while driving timely resolution of complex cross-functional challenges.
  • Lead product launches, market introductions, and geographic expansion efforts, ensuring readiness and execution excellence.
  • Evaluate and approve significant changes to program scope, budget, timeline, and resource allocation.
  • Influence and align senior leaders and stakeholders, both Internal and External, by translating ambiguity into clear strategies, priorities, and actionable plans.
  • Develop compelling executive presentations and communications, leveraging strong storytelling skills to effectively convey program status, business impact, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
  • Present complex information clearly and effectively, enabling informed decision-making and organizational alignment.
  • Champion PMO best practices, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning, execution, and delivery performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to ensure successful business outcomes.

Experience You'll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience leading product development, program management, or strategic initiatives with at least 5 years in the medical device, digital health, or healthcare industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex, cross-functional, and Cross-Company programs from concept through launch, preferably involving digital products.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build alignment and resolve conflict across functions, organizations, and external partners.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, including the ability to create compelling presentations and effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, balance competing priorities, and drive resolution of complex cross-functional issues.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or managing project managers, project leaders, or other cross-functional team members.

Preferred

  • Experience leading digital health, connected device, mobile application, or software-enabled healthcare products.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality work on schedule.
  • Experience with external stakeholder alignment via partnerships or supplier relationships.
  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of medical device regulations and standards, including FDA, ISO, and QSR Design Controls.

The base pay for this position is

$148,700.00 – $297,300.00
