The Finance team ensures Affirm remains financially sound and strategically positioned for growth. Our team manages financial planning, accounting, pricing, vendor management, tax, investor relations, and corporate development. We deliver timely insights, accurate reporting, and careful analysis to support decision-making. From day-to-day financial operations to major investments, we enable sustainable, informed growth by maintaining strong fiscal discipline.
About the Role
We are looking for a self-motivated and resourceful Bank Controller to join us during a pivotal moment of growth. As Affirm Bank is currently in its formation phase, we are actively building out our foundational team. Reporting to the Bank CFO, the Bank Controller will be central to this effort, playing a key role in the formation and operational build-out of the Bank.
The Bank Controller will lead day to day operational duties of the Affirm Bank Accounting Team, including managing the G/L and daily operational flows, ensuring successful integration of our accounting systems and processes into Affirm’s systems and processes, and developing the regulatory function.
What You'll Do
- Team Leadership & Talent Development: Build and lead the Bank accounting team, providing strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching as we establish the function.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Serve as a primary liaison with Affirm, Inc. cross-functional teams, ensuring effective service delivery under the Intercompany Program Agreement while maintaining the independent oversight necessary for a regulated banking entity.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee all monthly reporting to both internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, ensuring timely completion and submission.
- Regulatory Oversight: Build a controlled regulatory reporting function to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of required filings (e.g., FFIEC 041 Call Reports, Part 363 Annual Reports, and Federal Reserve reporting).
- Audit Management: Work closely with our external auditors to coordinate the completion of the annual Bank financial statement audit.
- Process Automation: Work with our engineering and product teams to evaluate, improve, and implement various tools to drive accounting/reporting automation.
- Strategic Analysis: Manage other processes and functions, including financial analysis and projects as required.
What We Look For
- Accounting designation such as CPA or CA
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Accounting, Finance or Treasury-related areas
- Minimum 5 years of people management experience
- Experience building out the appropriate tools and processes, and scaling an Accounting team in a similar industry
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, Regulatory reporting
- Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience
- Extremely detail oriented and a natural critical thinker
- Strategic, goal driven, focused, with a “can-do” attitude
Base Pay Grade - M
Equity Grade - USA 10
Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.
Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)
USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $185,000 - $245,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $164,000 - $224,000

Affirmers in proximal roles have the flexibility to work remotely, but will occasionally be required to work out of their assigned Affirm office.
