The person in this role will use their thorough knowledge of Supply Chain and Inventory Management and a solid understanding of finite scheduling across multiple production lines to lead the Columbus Plant Inventory and Scheduling Team to develop an optimal site production schedule and material requirements plan (MRP) that best fits the needs of Abbott Nutrition and our end consumers.
This position requires a high level of collaboration and communication as the Inventory and Scheduling Team serves as the interface for communication and action across several cross-functional groups such as the US Planning Center, Engineering, Plant Operations, the Pilot Plant, Research & Development, Procurement, as well as key suppliers.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead efforts required to maintain quality, safety, and compliance requirements for the Plant and Inventory & Scheduling Team
- Serve as the “Servant Leader” for the Inventory and Scheduling Team by always modeling Abbott’s core values, adhering to all HR policies, hiring/developing key talent, and having crucial conversations to drive performance
- Collaborate with the Materials Manager and Plant Staff team to set the Inventory and Scheduling Team’s long-term strategy cascaded down into yearly goals
- Continuously strive to optimize the site production schedule in collaboration with key stakeholders to unlock additional capacity for the Columbus Plant
- Lead the Inventory Team to ensure direct materials are at the Columbus Plant on time-in full (OTIF) to support production
- Gain a deep understanding and accountability for key plant financials such as Inventory dollars, days on hand (DOH) and Materials Usage Variance (MUV) as well as financial responsibility for team budget
- Lead cost improvement projects (CIP) to grow product margin and available working capital
- Assist in modeling near-term and long-term capacity across all Columbus Plant production lines and actively track performance against those models
- Assemble and facilitate the monthly Columbus Plant Supply Review (S&OP Process)
- Serve as a key contact and/or facilitator for Plant Financial and Quality audits
- Gain a deep understanding, assume responsibility, and lead improvement initiatives for key plant performance indicators such as Processing/Packaging Schedule Adherence (PSA), Manufacturing Schedule Performance (MSP), Manufacturing Schedule Stability (MSS), Supplier Delivery Performance (SDP), and Inventory Accuracy
- Collaborate with the Plant Quality Team to develop and implement a new process for materials “on hold” and receipt/management of non-qualified materials for R&D trials
- Embrace continuous improvement principals within the team by continuing to educate and drive key excellence programs such as root cause analysis (RCA), lean six sigma, 5S and APICS certifications
- Champion and resolve supply events to ensure supply continuity to the Columbus Plant
- Own and improve Plant Safety Stock and Cycle Count programs
This Role Will Be Accountable For:
- Leadership – The hiring, development, and success of the Columbus Plant Inventory and Scheduling Team
- Key Financial Indicators – Team budget, Inventory dollars, DOH, MUV and CIP (Defined above)
- Key Production indicators – PSA, MSP, MSS, SDP, and Inventory Accuracy (Defined above)
- Finite Scheduling – Continuous output of an optimized finite schedule for the Columbus Plant production lines and supporting work centers
- Direct Material Supply – A material requirements plan to support the schedule and ensure supply continuity at the Columbus Plant
- Plant Capacity - Calculation and development of mid-term and long-term capacity models
- S&OP – Lead Columbus Plant Supply Review
- Event Management – Effectively elevate and quickly resolve any operational, or supply event impacting plant operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering preferred, but will also consider degrees in, Science, Food Technology, or another relevant subject
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or Manufacturing/Warehouse Management
- 2 or more years of experience in effectively leading teams with exempt/non-exempt direct reports
- A thorough knowledge business and manufacturing principles, techniques, and practices
- Financial acumen – An understanding of what drives product cost and profitability. Prior experience with having budgetary responsibility for a team and/or work center.
- Knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP)
- High proficiency in ERP systems and Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering
- Experience working in production planning, and/or a factory setting
- Food grade manufacturing experience
- A passion for continuous improvement and the education/development of others
- High sense of urgency and attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to solve complex supply issues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization

The base pay for this position is
$99,300.00 – $198,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
