In this pivotal position, you'll dive deep into the heart of aviation engineering, spearheading the research, planning, and execution of FAA certification processes for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. As part of our esteemed Premium Flammability Certification team, you'll champion Seating products, shaping the future of luxury air travel.

What You Will Do: 

  • Engineering Excellence: Tackle standard engineering assignments with finesse, utilizing your expertise to drive impactful solutions and design decisions.

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the charge in internal technical and design reviews, developing advanced product knowledge and representing our Flammability Certification team with confidence and expertise.  You will author and deliver training modules, methods, and tools.

  • Accountability: You will have complete end to end ownership of programs and deliverables.  You will also be responsible for report planning and identifying and mitigating risk to program deliverables.

  • Trust and respect: Will be responsible for MRB dispositions, and reviewing, dispositioning, and approving post-certification minor design change.  You will acquire Sr. FE “Document checking” authorization within your discipline

  • Regulatory Compliance: Compile and check meticulous FAA certification documentation (14 CFR 25.853, 14 CFR 25.869, 14 CFR 25.1713, Heat Release SCs, Etc.), ensuring seamless submission to commercial aircraft OEM's and regulatory agencies.  As part of your future progression, you will be responsible for developing and mentoring fellow flammability engineers.

  • Innovation and Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing invaluable technical leadership and guidance to ensure project success.


Qualifications You Must Have:  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

  • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional engineering teams.


Qualifications We Prefer : 

  • 3-5 years of experience in aircraft certification/testing and/or aircraft cabin interiors.

  • Familiarity with testing and substantiation for Bunsen burner tests, oil burner tests, and OSU heat release / smoke density per 14 CFR 25 Appendix F.

  • Working knowledge of certification under 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 25.

  • Experience of TC, STC, PMA or TSO certification processes.

  • Experience with materials and processes commonly used in aircraft interiors design.

  • Prior working experience in the aerospace industry, specifically with aircraft interiors certification.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations.

  • Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and engineering related software programs.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
