Essential Responsibilities:
Support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) EMP Team, by ensuring the survivability of shipboard systems against EMP threats through a systematic and comprehensive approach.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise such as:
- Conducting vulnerability, EMP hardening and grounding/bonding surveys, analysis, and evaluation of U.S. Naval/other platforms.
- Obtaining technical data; planning and conducting experiments and tests; integrating experimental, analytical, and numerical approaches to solve technical problems.
- Performing up-front Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) engineering during system development through research, collect, analyze, and summarize data utilizing computational tools to assess likelihood and consequence of EMI.
- Five (5) years of experience in EMP; Electronic Environmental Effects (E3); Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI); EMC; and/or E3 Computation and Modeling.
- Eight (8) years of demonstrated and established knowledge base relevant to: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or Naval Architecture.
- Demonstrated experience developing and validating EM survivability requirements for electrical/electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures.
- Demonstrated experience in Pulsed Power, High Voltage pulser and pulse forming networks.
- Demonstrated ability to collect test data, conduct detailed analysis, complete desktop and on-site assessments of shipboard status, provide risk to mission analysis and
- dependency analysis, develop technical and operational conclusions, and write technical reports.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Active Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Experience:
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of transmission line theory.
- Demonstrated experience testing at a variety of EMC/EMV/EMP test facilities/capabilities including Mode Stirred chamber, Horizontally Polarized, Vertically Polarized and Bounded Wave simulators.
- U.S. Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, and Intelligence (C5I) experience.
Compensation Details:
$170,000-$210,000
