Senior CIWS Production Engineer
The Opportunity:
Are you an experienced production engineering professional with deep knowledge of the CIWS program and a passion for solving complex production and sustainment challenges? CACI is seeking a Senior Production Engineer for a Part Time role supporting critical production-related efforts in Louisville, KY. In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical authority, providing expert guidance on production issues, design improvements, testing requirements, maintenance considerations, and obsolescence management.
You will work closely with Government and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) teams to support production activities, resolve technical challenges, and enhance system performance in support of mission-critical defense capabilities. This position is ideal for a senior engineering professional who brings extensive CIWS production experience and can provide strategic, hands-on technical insight across the production lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
• Provide senior-level production engineering expertise in support of CIWS production and sustainment activities.
• Assist in the review and evaluation of deviations and waivers to support production efforts at OEM facilities.
• Serve as a key technical advisor to Government and OEM teams on all production-related matters.
• Support the implementation of design improvements to enhance manufacturability, reliability, and system performance.
• Provide engineering input into the development and refinement of maintenance requirements.
• Identify and help address obsolescence issues impacting production, supportability, and lifecycle readiness.
• Assist with the development of test requirements and the update of test plans to support production and system validation efforts.
• Analyze and help resolve technical problems related to software, electronics, and integrated system performance.
• Provide expertise to resolve complex issues experienced in the field and help ensure the CIWS system operates optimally.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including production, engineering, logistics, and program leadership.
• Support issue resolution activities by applying expert knowledge of engineering processes, production systems, and program requirements.
• Participate in meetings, technical reviews, and coordination discussions with Government and OEM representatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
• U.S. Citizenship
• Active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of government and/or production engineering experience with the CIWS program.
• Demonstrated expertise supporting production engineering efforts within a defense or OEM environment.
• Experience reviewing deviations, waivers, and engineering changes in support of production activities.
• Experience supporting test requirements development, test plan updates, and technical issue resolution.
• Strong knowledge of software, electronics, and systems-related production challenges.
• Proven ability to work effectively with Government and OEM stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desired:
• Prior experience supporting fielded weapons systems or other complex defense platforms.
• Familiarity with sustainment, maintenance planning, and lifecycle support considerations.
• Experience addressing obsolescence management and production supportability issues.
• Knowledge of defense production processes, technical reviews, and configuration/change management practices.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
