Overview

This position serves as an expert resource, consultant, and training resource to academic department support personnel for student and course related processes and systems managed by the University Registrar’s Office. This position also serves as an expert functional member of the Faculty Support Team within the University Registrar’s Office and participates in improvement initiatives for University-wide processes and systems.

This position is responsible for advising on best practices in support of multiple FAS departments. This role serves as the primary point of contact and expert resource for departmental registrars and other system users. This position delivers end-to-end user support for Yale’s curriculum tools (i.e. CourseLeaf) by answering day-to-day questions, explaining complex system rules, and guiding users on system capabilities based on established policies and system configuration. This position will be expected to troubleshoot a wide range of system related issues with minimal oversight and a high level of independent judgment, requiring intimate knowledge of each platform.

This position trains all new users and provides ongoing coaching through a mix of structured training and tailored 1:1 support as needed. Maintains and improves training materials and documentation, updating as needed, and coordinating the rollout of new information, process changes, and system updates to the registrar community. This position requires specialized knowledge of how CourseLeaf and Banner interact, including familiarity with data structures and tables. The incumbent will monitor and identify integration issues and assist users in interpreting system behavior.

This position will support curriculum governance by reviewing course proposals as well as procedural and policy-based determinations.

2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with multiple levels of an organization and explain complex subject matter. 

3. Ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions with little direct oversight and escalate issues as appropriate to supervisors. 

4. Ability to assess issues, troubleshoot, and make quick judgment calls. 

5. Ability to provide recommendations to improve department processes and procedures. Demonstrated flexibility, with the willingness and ability to learn and be receptive to different learning and coaching styles. 

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

1. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

2. Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite of products and ability to learn other computer systems. 

3. System familiarity with Courseleaf, 25Live, FSA, Degree Audit, and FGS. 

4. Knowledge of undergraduate and graduate school academic policies and procedures.  

5. Experience working with faculty and students
