Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is seeking a SCA Engineering Technician 3 / SCA Engineering Technician 4 Progressive Depot Level Repair Technician to join our Progressive Depot Level Repair team in Yorktown, Virginia. This position can be filled as an Engineering Technician 3 or 4 and is within the MK-48 Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA), which provides critical support to the U.S. Navy’s Atlantic Fleet with an onsite repair capability for the MK-48 Heavyweight Torpedo. This is a government facility that is comprised of a mixture of Contractor, Civil Service, and Military personnel. The individual will complete a variety of maintenance actions and repairs using detailed procedures and will have oversight from a direct manager.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Follow detailed instructions utilizing digital and paper processes
- Initiate torpedo repair processes and perform electro-mechanical maintenance actions in accordance with government approved procedures
- Perform periodic maintenance, inspections, and tests on automatic test equipment during preventative and corrective maintenance actions
- Use digital systems and paper processes for repair documentation and to access and follow work instructions
- Perform various ordnance handling evolutions by using overhead cranes
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, assemble, and test torpedo components
- Perform depot level maintenance actions to inspect/repair torpedo components
- Identify damage and troubleshoot test failures on torpedo components utilizing applicable work instructions, engineering schematics, and local procedures
- Demonstrate level of knowledge during quarterly and annual assessments, as required
- Acquire and maintain CPR certification
Required Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or GED and 0-2 plus years related experience
- US Citizen with active security clearance
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. and wear Steel Toe Shoes and other safety gear
- Ability to pass an Explosive Handler Physical
- Ability to obtain Arms and Ammunition Explosive Screening
- Proficiency in Microsoft products such as Windows Desktop OS, Office Product suite
- Ability to work onsite in Yorktown, VA
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
- Demonstrated experience using electronic test equipment, test fixtures, hand tools, calipers, torque wrenches, and dial depth gauges during electro-mechanical maintenance actions
- Proven ability to perform repair actions on subcomponents of larger systems
- Experience using digital and paper processes to document repair actions and follow work instructions
- Prior experience inspecting components in accordance with established criteria and determining/executing corrective maintenance actions to restore components
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
- Demonstrated ability leading mechanical repairs, torpedo testing, and maintenance actions
- Experience using overhead CAT III cranes and leading ordnance handling evolutions
- Demonstrated experience training personnel on torpedo mechanical repairs and maintenance actions
- Demonstrated experience delivering training presentations, on-the-job training, and cross functional topics to increase work center level of knowledge
- Ability and willingness to perform additional responsibilities to support work center requirements
- Initiate process improvements to reduce costs, add clarity, and/or streamline procedures
- Obtain Quality Assurance Inspector certification
- Prior experience with additional duties outside of routine job responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- AA Degree / 2-year technical degree
- 2 plus years related experience or technical school certificate
