As a Risk Manager on Capital One's Absolute Control Team (ACT), you will utilize your background in risk management, analysis, and process design to direct complex optimization initiatives for control testing and operations. Serving as a senior individual contributor or indirect team leader, you will drive modernization throughout our risk framework by implementing AI, constructing digital ecosystems, and developing video resources. You will collaborate with Operations, Tech, and Product units to roll out sophisticated risk solutions, provide change management roadmaps, and uphold Capital One's promise to fulfill 100% of our customer commitments. Furthermore, you will help manage the business execution of control testing by following operational workflows and meeting SLAs to satisfy the requirements of our internal clients.

The Absolute Control Team (ACT) serves as a strategic line of defense dedicated to strengthening "well managed" capabilities across Card and driving sustainable innovation through centralized risk mitigation support. We are tasked with executing controls on behalf of the business units we support. Currently, our team oversees 18 Key Business Processes and more than 210 control reports, leveraging a combination of onshore and offshore resources to manage daily execution. Regularly capturing insights is vital to sustaining process health and maintaining a continuous feedback loop.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive Next-Gen Control Improvement: Lead multi-faceted process improvement projects for control testing, including leveraging AI to optimize control authoring, control repair, and real-time dashboarding.

  • Build & Maintain Digital Ecosystems: Design, evolve, and maintain digital ecosystems, tools, templates, and job aides that streamline well-managed governance, reporting, and proactive risk analytics.

  • AI & Multimedia Content Creation: Create engaging video content and multimedia resources leveraging AI and modern digital tools to simplify complex risk concepts, train teams, and improve control execution across the organization.

  • Change Management & Relationship Building: Build strong cross-functional partnerships and execute change management roadmaps to influence, align, and onboard stakeholders to modernized risk processes.

  • Insights & Control Operations Support: Gather, interpret, and leverage data/insights from control execution monitoring (such as the Absolute Control / ACT framework) to develop actionable recommendations that elevate our risk profile and optimize business results.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly across multiple levels and organizations (Product, Tech, Operations, Enterprise Risk) to achieve strategic objectives and execute initiatives for new controls and products.

  • Indirect Leadership & Guidance: Provide subject matter expertise and indirect leadership/mentorship to project teams and onshore/offshore execution partners, setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • What Skills You Need to Bring to the Table

  • Strategic Influence & Change Management: Proven ability to build relationships, influence partners without direct authority, and guide organizations through change management execution and process adoption.

  • Tech & AI Fluency: A deep curiosity for emerging technologies; able to harness AI capabilities for control authoring, video creation, and dashboarding. You can translate technical concepts between Product, Tech, and Operations teams to drive consensus.

  • Process & Digital Innovation: Experience designing and maintaining digital ecosystems, workflows, and automated reporting solutions that modernize traditional control testing and risk frameworks.

  • Curiosity & Problem Solving: A willingness to challenge the status quo, think outside the box, and advocate for transformative risk and control solutions.

  • Results Focus: A bias for action and familiarity with scaled agile or iterative frameworks to test, learn, and deliver sustainable business outcomes quickly.

  • Communication & Storytelling: Strong ability to create multimedia content (including AI-generated video), deliver impactful presentations, and translate complex data into compelling risk narratives for leadership.

  • Analytical Mindset: Skilled at leveraging data to identify process bottlenecks, evaluate risk leverage points, and demonstrate the ROI of risk management investments.
