$20.34 - $28.51The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
The individual will perform a variety of moderately complex experiments, research laboratory assignments, various and diversified in nature, in accordance with standard laboratory practices and procedures.Initially, this individual will perform assignments working with daily supervision for the Lab Manager with oversight by Project Faculty and Principal Investigator (Pl) or his designee. Over time, this individual will develop some independence in planning and performing laboratory tests using standard laboratory practices and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in the lab with the following experiments for a NIH-funded research project
- Perform and support Luminex assays and flow cytometry experiments
- Monitor tumor burden using advanced imaging techniques like IVIS
- Administer radiation therapy in mouse models
- Conduct longitudinal monitoring of tumor progression
- Collaborate and assist team members in their daily research activities related to the project. Ensure smooth execution of experiments and shared responsibilities in the research project.
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance such as defrosting freezers, conducting inventories of lab chemical stocks and general housekeeping tasks.
- Assists with animal husbandry {maintenance of rats and mice, pre- and post-surgical preparation and follow-up, animal sacrifices as needed, etc.).
- Performs general laboratory duties such as preparing reagents, ordering and re-stocking supplies.
- Maintain laboratory chemical and ensure proper disposal. Helps to ensure laboratory compliance for safety and fire inspections.
- Assist in the lab with scientific procedures.
- Maintains Purchasing Records for all lab purchases to give to labs financial manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED and 1 year experience performing basic sampling, monitoring or research activities, compiling and collecting data and preparing reports required
- Associate's degree in Health Science, Biology, Chemistry or other science related field of study preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-3 years specialized experience in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Animal husbandry and colony management preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and scientific methods required
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, including written communication preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology preferred
