$77,600.00 - $116,400.00The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Works independently in a highly collaborative environment to support critical research databases and clinical data infrastructure. Designs, creates, tests and maintains innovative medical research-focused “big data” repositories. Provide technical support to programmers using the databases for reporting and statistical analysis for large public and private grant support. Works cooperatively with teams who have diverse skill sets to solve complex problems that require robust, scalable medical research database solutions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Design and implement custom, research project-specific database infrastructure solutions for data collection, management, reporting and analytics. Solutions need to be both efficient and comprehensive, taking into account reusability and maintainability.
- Provide development, maintenance and modification of numerous large and complex medical research data sources and overall data architecture to provide information infrastructure for growing empirical research needs.
- Collaborate with local investigators, staff and biostatisticians to understand requirements, sources of data, organization of data, and develop database solutions. Offer solutions and suggestions to provide optimum efficiency.
- Programs and tests applications with regard to study requirements, writing test plans, source code management, team member code review and quality assurance through unit and system testing.
- Produces and maintains comprehensive technical documentation.
- Continues to develop expertise in programming, architecture, software life cycle, and testing through continuing education, professional reading, online forums, workshops and professional groups.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or similar discipline and 2 years of experience in technology and data intensive roles and environments required
- Master's degree preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Programming experience in Structured Query Language (SQL) and one other applicable language (Java, Python, and/or R) required
- Experience with Change Management solutions required
- Experience with Version Control solutions (e.g. Git) required
- Experience implementing and supporting data management systems in a scientific, research context (e.g. biospecimen software, electronic laboratory notebooks, REDCap) preferred
- Experience with Linux, container and cloud technologies (e.g. HPC, IaaS and PaaS) preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Understanding of data analytics and statistical methods required
- Expertise of software engineering best practices such as version control and software release management required
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
- Strong organizational skills required
- Ability to work with others in a matrix management environment required
- Excellent communication skills for describing progress and challenges to stakeholders required
- Attention to detail, patience and a positive, customer-centric attitude required
- Strong technical presentation skills required
- Demonstrated ability to develop proficiency with unfamiliar toolsets preferred
- Familiarity with file formats, metadata, and data exchange and storage standards applicable in management of scientific and clinical research required
- SAS programming experience preferred
- SAS macro expertise (preferred)
