As a PYE (Product Yield Enhancement) Lab Technician, you will support product yield improvement initiatives by operating laboratory and test equipment, executing semiconductor test processes, and providing technical support to engineering and manufacturing teams. You will investigate product-related requests, coordinate equipment utilization, perform data analysis, and ensure accurate product tracking while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate product lots and components to support requests submitted through the PYE FAILMECH queue.
  • Analyze requests and execute the appropriate process flow based on product type, configuration, and failure mode.
  • Utilize Linux-based tools and commands to perform product research, diagnostics, and data collection.
  • Leverage approved engineering applications, databases, and web-based resources to conduct product analysis.
  • Generate and submit Fuse Sort (FSRT) instructions using Linux-based utilities and supporting scripts.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including Single Board Testers (SBT), Pretest stations, and burn-in systems such as AX5 and AX6 ovens.
  • Verify process results using Failure Map (FMAP) and other engineering analysis tools.
  • Support tester scheduling and coordination activities to maximize equipment utilization within the Characterization Lab.
  • Access approved lab systems and accounts to retrieve requests, scripts, and process documentation.
  • Partner with Product Yield Enhancement, Characterization, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technical Support teams to resolve product issues and deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Collect, analyze, and document operational data to identify trends, process opportunities, and recurring issues.
  • Escalate equipment, process, safety, and quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records related to product disposition, equipment status, and process execution.
  • Follow all site safety, environmental, quality, and security requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance laboratory efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across cross-functional teams.

AI and Digital Enablement Responsibilities

  • Utilize approved Micron AI and digital productivity tools to improve efficiency, research effectiveness, documentation quality, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Apply critical thinking and technical judgment when using AI-assisted outputs, validating information before implementation or communication.
  • Maintain compliance with Micron AI Governance, data protection, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Use approved AI tools responsibly while protecting Micron intellectual property, confidential information, and customer data.
  • Continuously develop digital and AI literacy skills to support evolving business and technical requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work a compressed workweek schedule, including 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift changes as business needs require.
  • Experience working in a technical, manufacturing, laboratory, semiconductor, engineering, military, or related environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret procedures, troubleshoot issues, and execute detailed work instructions.
  • Experience utilizing computers, software applications, and technical systems to collect, analyze, and communicate information.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux, command-line environments, or technical scripting tools.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk throughout the facility, and perform work in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, Computer Technology, Semiconductor Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of semiconductor manufacturing, laboratory, engineering support, characterization, product engineering, or equipment operations experience.
  • Experience working with Linux systems, scripting environments, or data analysis tools.
  • Experience with semiconductor test equipment, burn-in systems, characterization tools, or failure analysis processes.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, yield improvement methodologies, and process control techniques.
  • Experience supporting technical projects in a highly collaborative manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use digital tools, automation, data analytics, or approved AI solutions to enhance productivity and decision making.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for up to 12 hours per shift.
  • Walk throughout manufacturing and laboratory environments for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency and potentially hazardous situations.
