Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Propulsion Engineer – Level 2 or 3 to join our team at our Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location to support the Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) business unit.
The Northrop Grumman PS&C business unit is based in Elkton, Maryland and began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The Palm Beach Gardens location is the Air-breathing propulsion center of excellence specializing in the design, analysis and system integration of ramjets, scramjets and other advanced air-breathing propulsion systems.
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida is located a very short distance from the Atlantic Ocean. You would be close to many top beaches, fishing, inland eco-tours, shopping, and restaurants. Palm Beach Gardens also has many top golf choices and is home to The Professional Golfers Association of America and PGA National Resort.

Perform design of one or more moderately complex or portions of structural components and functional systems of company products. Generally work from preliminary studies developed by higher graded engineers. Analyze requirements for materials, structural component, or functional systems. Select applicable analytical data from previous products, determine the technical principles involved, mathematically define the problem and compute the engineering characteristics consistent with the specifications, design needs and requirements of other portions of the product. Release results as design data after review by higher graded engineer. Develop original ideas and elaborate on preliminary design concepts. Evaluate completed design with supervisor and other technical groups and make modification necessary to achieve the most ideal design.
Job Responsibilities
· Performs design of one or more moderately complex or portions of structural components and functional systems
· With limited supervision, applies theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of more complex components, structures, and sub-assemblies
· Responds in a timely manner to all requests and explores all avenues within authority and makes appropriate referrals to other sources
· Makes thoughtful and valuable suggestions and recommendations for improving own work and/or group’s work
· Establish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems
· Release results as design data after review from other engineers
· Document results of design activities
The level of hire will depend upon demonstrated education, experience, skills, and competency.
Basic Qualifications for level 2
· Requires Bachelors in STEM plus 2 years of related experience or Master’s Degree in STEM, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
· Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
· Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation and critical thinking skills
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)
· Working knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software
· Knowledge of ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Basic Qualifications for level 3
· Requires Bachelors in STEM plus 5 years of related experience or Master’s Degree in STEM plus 3 years of experience or PhD in STEM plus at least 1 year of experience, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
· Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
· Proficiency with Siemens NX
· Knowledge of ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
· Ability and willingness to travel
Preferred Qualifications both levels
· Current active Security Clearance
· Working knowledge of NX
· Knowledge of general machine shop fabrication processes, additive manufacture experience desirable
· Understanding of design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM)
· Ability and willingness to travel
