Position Overview:

We are looking for a Projects Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of high-value engineering projects across the Power Generation, Energy, Data Centre, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering sectors.

Job Description:

The Projects Engineer will work closely with project managers, customers, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. You will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, support bid and proposal development, manage engineering resources, and drive continuous improvement across project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical input and engineering expertise for bids, tenders and customer proposals.

  • Review customer requirements and ensure proposed solutions are technically robust and commercially viable.

  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of multiple projects, ensuring engineering activities meet cost, quality and schedule requirements.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop project execution plans, manage risks and optimise resource allocation.

  • Lead the resolution of technical issues and provide engineering guidance throughout project delivery.

  • Manage and coordinate engineering subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Monitor engineering progress, project milestones and risk registers, implementing corrective actions where required.

  • Ensure engineering documentation, verification and change control processes are followed at all times.

  • Support material specification, procurement activities and supplier performance reviews.

  • Contribute to engineering resource planning, competency development and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Provide coaching and technical support to team members where appropriate.

  • Ensure full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety, Quality and company governance requirements.

  • Represent the business professionally in customer meetings, project reviews and technical discussions.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering (or HNC/HND with significant relevant experience).

  • Experience (2+ years) delivering engineering projects

  • Sound knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical engineering principles.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schedules and technical documentation.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Knowledge of project management processes, methodologies and controls.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and related project planning software.

  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.

  • Understanding of CDM regulations, site safety requirements and Environmental, Health & Safety best practices.

Desirable

  • Chartered / working towards membership of a professional engineering institution.

  • Experience developing tender and proposal documentation.

  • Experience implementing engineering processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Coaching and mentoring experience.

  • Commercial awareness and financial acumen.

  • Experience with quality management systems and audit processes.

  • Change management experience.

  • Programme engineering experience across a diverse portfolio of projects.

  • CAD or 3D modelling experience.
