Job Description:

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Huntsville / Madison, Alabama has an opening for a Project Management/ Principal Project Management. Selected candidate oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Serves as the manufacturing project team liaison to program management, engineering, supply chain, quality assurance and other functional groups 

  • Receive manufacturing requirements from the program and coordinate planning with manufacturing team 

  • Oversee and facilitate the overall production flow from cradle to grave for the program’s schedule and cost requirements – material receipt on dock, incoming inspection, receipt of material into stock, kitting of material from stock to the production floor, integration, in-process inspections, verification test, acceptance test, final inspection, joint inventory, and delivery 

  • Responsible for successful execution of the manufacturing scope of the program’s SOW 

  • Responsible for cost, schedule and technical performance of products manufactured 

  • Collaborate with all manufacturing, program, and other functional organizations to resolve operations conflicts in real-time 

  • Responsible for the manufacturing operations content of proposals, including coordinating the inputs with the program office and the manufacturing functional organizations 

  • Focal point in driving Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) 

  • Provide inputs to Risk & Opportunity management plan 

  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) for manufacturing, including Earned Value Management reporting and variance reporting 

  • Provide manufacturing status to PM 

  • Work with GSC to ensure on time delivery of conforming material to support manufacturing schedule 

  • Manufacturing representative at the Configuration Control Board (CCB), ensuring proper implementation of design changes 

  • Coordinate program review meetings with manufacturing functional management and program management

  • Develop contract closeout plan and drive execution 

Basic Qualifications:

  • For a level 2: Bachelors degree plus 2 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or program management. 0 year with masters.
  • For a level 3: Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or program management. 2 years with Master’s degree. 1 year with PHD
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities as evidenced by prior experience leading a team or project in a production environment.
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems requiring the use of ingenuity, creativity, and participation of internal and/or external personnel & teams.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written, interpersonal skills and good problem solving mindset.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, publications.
  • Ability to get and to maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance. Must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, Communications or other related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as an OPM, project manager, program manager or engineering program manager in leading a team of engineering and/or manufacturing personnel in military grade product development or repair.
  • Proficiency in Risk and Opportunity management.
  • Experience with basis of estimates, proposal generation and EAC development
  • PMP Certification.
  • Proficiency in Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques, which includes program cost and schedule management.

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,400.00 - $108,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $134,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
