Our Quality Team in Tucson, AZ, is searching for a Program Supplier Assurance Engineer. The Program Supplier Assurance professional will ensure that good parts and services are received from the supply chain. We work collaboratively with our internal functional counterparts to ensure requirements flow down, and Technical Data Packages (TDP) will result in a product that performs in the system and meets specifications. We conduct supplier oversight through requirements reviews, in-process and final inspections at supplier’s facilities. We perform robust containment, root cause, corrective action and validation of supplier caused defects and develop bids that support all of the Supplier Quality Activity.
What You Will Do
- Review hardware, software and service purchase requisitions or material masters for complete and correct flow down requirements
- Act as a technical interface between Supplier Quality, SCM and Suppliers on rejected materials
- Perform defect data analysis and review with the program managers and supplier management, which will assist in developing Supplier improvement plans
- Lead and participate in multi-functional teams in problem resolution and continuous improvement activities with an emphasis on six sigma, lean practices and other analytical improvement methods and tools
- Identify and document supplier risk; develop mitigation plans to reduce, eliminate and prevent supplied product defects
- Support containment activities associated with discrepant material, with assistance from functional stakeholders
- Support the supplier corrective action process, review, approval and monitoring; assure containment, closed loop Root Cause Corrective Action is obtained; communicate issue and resolution to functional stakeholders
- Support Program Supplier Assurance group in execution of supplier assessment plans for the programs within the business area.
- Ensure flow down of product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers through PO requirements, Quality Notes, and statement of works Interpreting to ensure supply base both understands and complies with these quality (Q-Notes) applications production Parts.
- Perform on-site Source Surveillance and Corrective Action reviews, Participate in design reviews, program reviews, process change reviews, supplier reviews, qualification test reviews, as well as Test Equipment verification and validation to mitigate escape risk.
- Facilitate closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process quality, Perform Supplier factory process walks and factory risk assessments
- Represent quality during review boards covering changes to supplier designs, process changes, qualification tests, and procedure reviews
- Review Internal TDP change requests, Supplier change requests, and Supplier Statements of Work and contribute in the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure supplier quality performance
- Ability to travel domestically up to 25% to support supplier assessments, audits, reviews.
What You Will Learn
- Managing complex supplier base in variety of fields (Electrical, Mechanical, energetic, etc)
- Expand Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) knowledge and experience
- Engagement with critical external stakeholders (i.e. Military branches, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Relevant experience is work in quality engineering, manufacturing, engineering and/or supplier performance.
- Previous experience interpreting schematic drawings and hardware inspection techniques.
- Experience with statistical analysis processes and tools.
- Experience using Microsoft office suite software (in particular Excel equations & pivot charts, PowerPoint creating charts, Word and/or Outlook)
- Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Candidates in this position must be able to participate in the resolution of technical issues with respect to product processes, systems and deliverables in engineering, supply chain and quality and at the supplier
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and apply decision-making skills with appropriate supervisory intervention
- High energy, self-starter with ability to perform work under general direction
- Ideal candidate brings leadership and hands-on experience working with one or more of the following aerospace or commercial equivalent preventative tools – quality tools such as FMEA, problem solving methodologies 8D investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Possess excellent verbal / written and presentation communications and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively persuade and influence through positive communications with stakeholders, team members, suppliers, management
- Experience with technical procedures, specifications, standards, and other engineering and manufacturing-related documents
- Experience in failure analysis and root cause analysis
- Experience using process improvement techniques and methodologies (e.g. Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, and DMADV) and tools (e.g. ANOVA, SPC, Capability Analysis, DOE, MSA, and FMEA)
- Experience in supporting design and manufacturing processes
- Project management experience, working experience with AS 9100 quality management systems, and experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment, is a plus
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
