Production Engineer
The Opportunity:
CACI's Ascent Vision Technologies (AVT) team in Belgrade, MT, is seeking a Production Engineer to join their organization. As part of CACI's Spectrum Superiority Line of Business, AVT manufactures best-in-class gyro-stabilized Gimbal systems designed for a wide variety of applications. Our pioneering systems support airborne, ground, and maritime missions around the world. We specialize in fully integrated solutions for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), and counter drone operations for the defense and aerospace industry.
As a Production Engineer, you will support the successful introduction, production, and continuous improvement of the EO/IR imaging systems product lines. This role will focus on developing robust manufacturing processes, improving quality and efficiency, supporting test strategy and implementation, and driving operational excellence on the production floor. This position requires strong technical problem-solving skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a hands-on approach to solving complex manufacturing challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Product Management teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and product manufacturing.
- Support process improvements and equipment upgrades to increase production efficiency and consistency.
- Track and report key performance indicators such as first pass yield, cycle time, uptime, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing work instructions.
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective/preventive actions for manufacturing and test-related issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase throughput, reduce cost, improve yield, and enhance product quality.
- Ensure compliance with ESD ANSI 20.20 and internal QMS standards.
- Collaborate with Product, R&D, and Manufacturing teams to align designs with production capability and product forecasts.
- Participate in ECO/ECR processes and Material Review Boards to support engineering changes and continuous improvement.
- Design, build, and implement production tooling and fixtures as needed.
- Provide hands-on support for prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting electro‑optical assemblies.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in ERP, PLM, and MES systems (Infor preferred).
- Experience in CAD modeling for production tooling and fixturing.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting electro‑optical assemblies.
- Knowledge of BOM management, revision control, and documentation best practices.
- Familiarity with ECR/ECO processes and cross-functional collaboration in a production environment.
- Ability to identify and implement manufacturing process improvements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
Desired:
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically manufacturing or production engineering.
- Advanced proficiency in Infor ERP systems.
- Certifications in Lean and Six Sigma.
- Experience working in optics/photonics or electro‑optical assemblies.
