Overview :

Responsible for developing design architecture, electrical schematics, operational diagrams, and detailed technical documentation, including written and verbal descriptions, to ensure electrical designs meet defined requirements and specifications. Provide technical support for electrical testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and issue resolution throughout the product development lifecycle.

Own the electrical hardware design and associated design lifecycle activities, from concept and requirements definition through detailed design, verification, qualification, validation, and production release.

Support the development and preparation of test articles, test fixtures, wire harnesses, and representative loads required for design verification, qualification, validation, and production activities, including the development and execution of acceptance test procedures (ATP) as required.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Analog, Digital, and Mixed-Signal circuit design, with the ability to provide technical guidance to the Electrical Engineering team.
  • Develop robust, innovative, and cost-effective solutions to complex electrical and electronic design challenges.
  • Perform conceptual studies, system-level analysis, design calculations, and technical feasibility assessments.
  • Review and assess electrical designs to identify potential design conflicts, interface issues, and technical risks early in the development process.
  • Lead detailed engineering activities, including the development and review of electrical schematics, layouts, and related design documentation.
  • Apply strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Participate in and/or chair technical and design reviews, ensuring design quality and adherence to defined requirements.
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured, documented, and effectively incorporated into current and future product designs.
  • Mentor, guide, and technically challenge Electrical Engineering team members to promote engineering excellence and continuous development.
  • Ensure product designs meet required standards for reliability, manufacturability, quality, cost, and performance.
  • Ensure electrical and electronic designs comply with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications.
  • Exposure to Milestone review of Aerospace standards like PDR, CDR and TRR.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Cost (DFC), Design for Quality (DFQ), and Design for Certification (DFC) principles throughout the product development cycle.
  • Develop and execute technical plans for each phase of the product development lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate technical and design risks throughout the product development cycle.
  • Should demonstrate strong technical capability in solving EMI/EMC issues during product testing.
  • Identify opportunities and provide recommendations for improving products, engineering processes, design methodologies, and development practices.
  • Demonstrate strong technical leadership and the ability to influence engineering decisions across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Technical Experience & Core Competencies

  • 12+ years of experience in the design and development of complex Analog, Digital, and Mixed-Signal electronic systems.
  • Experience in product-level requirements capture, analysis, allocation, and system architecture development in accordance with customer and product requirements.
  • Proven experience designing complex products incorporating multiple microprocessors, microcontrollers, and digital interfaces.
  • Strong experience in the design, analysis, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of Analog, Digital, Mixed-Signal, and Power circuits.
  • Hands-on experience in high-speed electrical design, signal integrity analysis, timing analysis, and troubleshooting of high-speed interfaces.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture using Cadence, OrCAD, Mentor or equivalent schematic design tools.
  • Proficiency in circuit simulation and analysis tools, such as LTspice, PSpice, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to support the architecture, development, integration, verification, and qualification of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
  • Expertise in the design, integration, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of motor controllers, motor interface circuits, and display interfaces, along with a broad range of digital and communication interfaces, including I²C, I3C, SPI, SRAM, CAN, ARINC 429, ARINC 664, EBI, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, LVDS, PCI, PCIe, UART, and RS-422/RS-485.
  • Experience in electrical component lifecycle and obsolescence management, including identification, evaluation, qualification, and implementation of alternate/replacement components.
  • Working knowledge of DO-160 and DO-254 aerospace standards and their application to electrical/electronic product development.

Good to have:

  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter or equivalent Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • Experience with SVN or other version-control/repository management systems.
  • Experience in the design and development of aerospace products.
  • Experience with DO-160 and/or MIL-STD environmental qualification and testing.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and/or using software, scripts, or test utilities for microcontrollers/microprocessors during hardware testing, debugging, and validation.
