Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Training Representative to support hands on training, workforce readiness, and new hire orientation for the ASTAR organization.
This is a high-visibility role that contributes to a strong manufacturing ready experience for new and existing employees. In addition to orientation and readiness activities for touch labor employees, this role also conducts hands on training for manufacturing processes such as composites, structures, and coatings. They ensure trainees are ready for handoff to the manufacturing floor.
The selected candidate will serve as a key link between Workforce Development and Operations by delivering training, coordinating onboarding readiness, resolving issues, and scheduling of training resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instructor-led training across classroom and shop-floor settings, focusing on safety, compliance, and technical fundamentals.
- Leverage manufacturing insights to continuously audit and update training content, ensuring it remains technically relevant to evolving shop-floor requirements.
- Support the accuracy of training records and certifications within LMS and readiness trackers.
- Maintain and optimize training facilities and technology to provide a world-class learning environment.
- Lead the end-to-end orientation lifecycle, evolving the curriculum to ensure it reflects the current business landscape and cultural values.
- Coordinate readiness activities such as safety training, badge support, PPE guidance, and day one logistics.
- Act as the ultimate escalation point for onboarding barriers, proactively driving cross-functional solutions to prevent delays in personnel readiness.
- Collaborate with Operations Leadership to align hiring with program-specific needs and shift requirements.
- Design and facilitate the transition process from the training environment to the production floor, ensuring managers are equipped to receive and mentor new talent.
- Represent the organization at hiring events and support partnerships with technical schools and workforce agencies.
BQs
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and accumulation of 5 years aerospace manufacturing experience in either composites, structures, or low observable coatings and/or related education experience or master’s degree and 3 years of manufacturing experience and/or related education experience.
- Ability to lead hands on instructor-led training and deliver presentations to large employee groups
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, process-oriented environment
- Ability to work independently and resolve issues with limited oversight
- Ability to interface with employees, managers, and cross-functional business partners
- Must possess working knowledge of manufacturing, production, or operations environments
PQs
- Experience procuring production material
- Experience partnering closely with Operations, Safety, Quality, HR, or other cross-functional teams
- Experience delivering instructor-led training in classroom and/or production support settings
- Experience tracking training completion, employee readiness, or onboarding progress using Excel, LMS, or other data systems
- Experience preparing training materials, classrooms, job aids, or supporting training logistics
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and group engagement skills
- Must possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
