We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to work onsite in Richardson, TX. This position requires an active US Secret security clearance. The Principal Systems Engineer architects, designs, and develops software deployments onto both hardware and cloud environment. The Principal Systems Engineer performs integration and automation of applications onto a common platform and infrastructure utilizing modern DevSecOps and automation practices.

What You Will Do:

  • Integrates a variety of familiar and unfamiliar technologies into orchestrated solutions. 

  • Analyzes gaps in technology solutions and designs paths to close them. 

  • Follows directions provided by the team leaders in implementation and scope. 

  • Develops and follows installation, integration, and test procedures. 

  • Automates manual procedures. 

  • Documents procedures in clear and unambiguous manner. 

  • Demonstrates work to a variety of audiences. 

  • Participates in and contributes to the team's Agile ceremonies, including daily scrum, Sprint and Program Increment planning, and retrospective meetings. 

  • Helps teammates to achieve success in their tasking. 

  • Reviews work and provides actionable feedback to teammates. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Cumulative 3 years minimum of leading and mentoring other developers and driving cross-team collaboration across product lifecycle and other disciplines. 

  • Cumulative 8 years of experience with 5 years minimum of hands-on experience in each: Automating integration of systems using container technologies (Docker, Podman, Docker Compose/Podman Compose)  under version control (e.g., Git) while utilizing IaC tools and frameworks (Terraform, Terragrunt, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible) for automation of server and OS deployments (PXE boot, DHCP, Kickstart). 

  • Develop automation with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and thoroughly test implementations. 

  • Linux systems administration and security as well as  utilizing virtualization technologies (VMWare, KVM) and 3rd party software such as Nginx, Vault, CoreDNS, dnsmasq, Artifactory  etc. 

  • Basic understanding of computer networks and related hardware, dns, etc. 

  • Host-based network management. (configuring network interfaces, firewalls, etc). 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. 

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.      

    Qualifications We Prefer:

    • Additional relevant soft or technical skills and experience on top of the Required Qualifications. 

    • Detail-oriented oriented and experience documenting procedures at high level of detail. 

    • Proven record of thinking outside the box when driving solutions. 

    • Experience working in an Agile Methodology 

    • Experience performing estimations and bid creation (BOEs) 

    • Experience creating system architecture 

    • Experience working in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

    The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
