Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a Principal Specialist, Production Planner to support our Cedar Rapids, Iowa location. In this role you will be responsible for managing all activities to enable the creation and release of production work orders planned to start within a 90-day horizon and the delivery of FG based on strategy (order start to finish). You will play a key part in daily and short-term production planning, detailed scheduling, and coordinating across various departments to ensure schedule adherence, material availability, and capacity alignment. You will proactively manage exceptions, to ensure seamless production execution and customer delivery performance and mitigate risk of shortages.
What You Will Do
Manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules, ensuring material and resource readiness to support S&OE and month end plan alignment.
Coordinate closely with cross functional teams including scheduling, engineering, quality, purchasing, inventory, operations, and program management.
Identify and resolve material shortages, bottlenecks, and capacity risks; implement mitigation and recovery actions.
Monitor and communicate material availability, production readiness, and cleartobuild status to support order release and prioritization.
Process exception messages for internal work orders and STOs and drive timely resolution.
Prepare and report key planning metrics such as on time starts, cleartobuild, COGIs, and exception trends.
Manage nonstandard material flows including passthrough shipments, outside processing, and overload work.
Develop and maintain SIOP and materials plans, establishing accurate demand forecasts in partnership with product, sales, and operations teams.
Facilitate capacity planning, identify gaps, and support long range demand visibility for OE and aftermarket.
Improve and standardize planning processes and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and customer delivery performance.
Mitigate short term supply risks and maintain alignment with internal suppliers to support customer commitments.
What You Will Learn
How to evaluate, release, and sequence production orders to maintain smooth material flow and meet customer needs.
How to identify bottlenecks, manage past due recovery, and drive near term execution.
How to interpret and resolve MRP exceptions and escalate risks impacting delivery commitments.
How to coordinate inter site transfer orders to support production and customer priorities.
How to track essential execution metrics (schedule adherence, WIP, NCM, trapped inventory, cleartobuild).
How to support month end rescheduling and ensure accurate alignment going into a new planning cycle.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Planning, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field.
Prior knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and order management.
Prior understanding of manufacturing KPIs and industrial production processes.
Proficiency in MS Office applications
ERP experience (SAP strongly preferred)
Material handling experience
Understanding of white boards, banana charts and other factory tools.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, verbally and in writing, to individuals at all levels and to cross-functional groups.
Knowledge of ACE/CORE and/or Lean Six Sigma is encouraged.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
