Raytheon’s Radar Digital Product Line (RDPL) team in Fullerton, California, is growing! We are seeking a talented and motivated Principal Software Engineer - Lead Metrics & Tools Specialist to lead data integration, metric automation, and performance visibility for a large radar software program supporting 10+ engineering teams.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the program’s Jira and metrics subject-matter expert
  • Define, collect, and analyze execution metrics across multiple engineering teams
  • Configure Jira backlogs, workflows, boards, and dashboards for accurate execution tracking
  • Build automated dashboards and data pipelines to reduce manual reporting
  • Partner with Program Management and Finance to align execution, schedule, and budget data
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights and train teams on metric use and tooling

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience with data collection, data mining, and performance tracking for large engineering programs.

  • Experience automating data extraction and reporting workflows.

  • Experience in Jira including JQL, Structures, Rich Filters, subscriptions, dashboards, multi-board setups and similar.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.​ U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Active Secret security clearance.

  • Ability to turn complex metrics into clear visualizations and insights

  • Strong communication skills across distributed engineering, program, and finance teams

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, radar, or large-scale software development programs

  • Familiarity with Earned Value (EV) and integrating Jira data with financial/scheduling systems

  • Exposure to Jira Administration (workflows, fields, permissions) and Atlassian certifications

  • Strong understanding of Agile practices in multi-team hardware/software environments

  • Ability to document processes clearly and maintain repeatable workflows

The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
