The Engineering & Sciences organization at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a highly skilled Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Woodland Hills, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering principles and extensive experience executing post‑CDR program phases, including integration and test, verification sell‑off, and production transition. This role requires the ability to lead cross‑functional teams, manage configuration baselines, and ensure the successful transition of complex hardware and software systems into production.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Own the post‑CDR technical baseline, ensuring requirements, architectures, and ICDs remain consistent, traceable, and properly controlled through qualification and production transition.

  • Refine and maintain the verification cross‑reference matrix, mapping each requirement to specific test, analysis, inspection, or demonstration, including HIL and SIL coverage.

  • Lead integration and test planning and execution, developing test procedures, coordinating lab resources, and driving incremental HW/SW integration from components through system‑level builds.

  • Execute formal verification campaigns, analyze test results, resolve discrepancies, and maintain verification status reporting to support requirement sell‑off and customer acceptance.

  • Support system validation and operational suitability activities, including mission‑scenario testing, host‑platform integration, and evaluation in representative environments.

  • Partner with Operations and Manufacturing to enable production transition, contributing to DFM/DFA reviews, production test strategies, and as‑built configuration tracking.

  • Drive ongoing configuration and change management, leading or participating in CCBs, assessing the technical impact of changes, and keeping DOORS traceability up to date.

  • Maintain and report on the risk and issues register for post‑CDR phases, proposing mitigations and providing clear status to program leadership and customers.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers; actively participate in cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment with program objectives and promote knowledge sharing across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies, proposing updates to configuration‑management practices and contributing to lessons‑learned documentation for future programs.
