What You Will Do:
Determines mechanical manufacturing methods for hardware and ensures the required manufacturing processes are available.
Creates manufacturing assembly documentation and conceptual tooling, and provides technical assistance to assemble high-quality, highly engineered hardware for life support and thermal control applications, both internally and for external suppliers.
Supports failure investigations by determining root causes, implementing corrective actions, and dispositioning nonconforming hardware to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Develops and sequences larger, more complex manufacturing operations and installations, and specifies procedures for tool and equipment fabrication, assembly, disassembly, repair, and other manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
Ensures manufacturing processes and procedures comply with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) and quality requirements.
Identifies opportunities for improvement and implements changes, as needed, to enhance products or reduce costs by applying knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, materials, and components to optimize productivity and resource utilization.
Performs cost estimates, works to established schedules, and writes manufacturing procedures and policies.
Reviews engineering drawings and concepts, resolves producibility concerns, and provides recommendations for the acquisition and implementation of new technologies, equipment, and materials.
Collaborates effectively within an integrated product development and design environment.
Presents technical and operational topics to senior management and participates in and implements continuous improvement initiatives, including ACE, Process Certification, Manufacturing Process Reviews, Lean Manufacturing, and EH&S projects.
Demonstrates a positive attitude and communicates effectively with integrated product development teams, staff, and management.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
Qualifications We Prefer:
Familiarity with a modeling and/or design package such as Creo.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, machining concepts and special processing such as welding and brazing.
Knowledge of Continuous improvement methods and demonstrated use of their tools, such as Shainen Red X, Taguchi Design of Experiment, Dmaic, Ishikawa and Fault Tree Analysis.
Experience with a MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning) system.
Previous experience in Life Support and/or Thermal Control hardware is highly desirable.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
