We're seeking a Principal Field Service Engineer to join our Commercial Engines Customer Technical Services team, supporting the global PW2000 and PW4000 engine fleet. This is a highly visible technical role where you'll partner directly with airline customers, maintenance organizations, and internal engineering teams to solve complex operational challenges, improve fleet reliability, and represent Pratt & Whitney as a trusted technical advisor.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for airline customers and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facilities supporting the global PW2000 and PW4000 engine fleet, providing expertise in fan, compressor, mechanical systems, and nacelle components.
  • Lead complex engine event investigations, perform root cause analyses, and develop technical solutions that improve fleet reliability, safety, and operational performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering, Product Safety, Certification & Validation, and airframer teams to resolve technical issues, support engine modifications, and maintain continued airworthiness.
  • Develop and review Engineering Authorizations (EAs), Special Instructions, and maintenance documentation while contributing to updates for engine manuals and other technical publications.
  • Provide timely technical support for Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) events and other critical operational issues, collaborating with airline engineers, maintenance teams, and Pratt & Whitney Field Service Representatives.
  • Identify recurring fleet trends and recommend process and product improvements that enhance customer support, engine reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Occasional weekend and after-hours support are required to assist with urgent customer needs and Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) events.
  • Approximately 5% domestic and international travel is required for customer meetings, technical conferences, and safety or operational event investigations.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of aerospace engineering experience; or an Advanced degree in a related field with 5 years of aerospace engineering experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience providing technical support to airline customers or Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) organizations.
  • Experience with aircraft engine maintenance, troubleshooting, or field service support.
  • Familiarity with commercial aircraft engine systems, maintenance documentation, and operational support processes.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
