What You'll Get To Do:

  • Designs and plans layout for such processes as hardening, washing, laminating, etching, engraving, polishing, painting, plating, and other material-processing operations.

  • Plans sequence of operations and specifies procedures for cutting, shaping, and otherwise preparing basic material, exercising judgment in compromising between conflicting requirements, economic evaluation of methods, and operator effectiveness and comfort.

  • Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over such variables as temperature, density, specific gravity, pressure, and viscosity.

  • Establishes and submits processing requirements to be met in designing and acquiring processing equipment.

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Engineer Process who will support the Production Organization based in San Diego, CA.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related STEM area with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or minimum of 3 years with a MS or 1 year with a PhD);

  • Process Engineering experience.

  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), 6 sigma concepts for process development, and control.

  • Experience in introducing new processes and equipment into production environment.

  • Siemens NX, SolidWorks, and Minitab experience

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience in developing, documenting, and maintaining standardized manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with process/procedure development, control, and improvement

  • Experience in MS Office software applications

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance is required.

  • U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering.

  • Experience reviewing & approving materials and processes

  • Experience in developing and performing equipment maintenance.

  • Experience in root cause analysis of material failures and provide effective solutions to production materials issues

  • Experienced working on automation of electronic assemblies

  • Experience with electronics manufacturing equipment selection and acquisition

  • Experience with electromechanical assembly and/or Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) manufacturing

  • Experience in laser welding, etching, and cutting

  • Hands on experience in programing, sustaining, and troubleshooting electronics manufacturing equipment

  • Relevant J-STD-001 and military specs/standards experience

  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
