At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

Our Advanced Radar Department has an immediate need for a Principal Electrical Engineer to serve as a senior technical leader across a complex Family of Systems (FoS). The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on hardware expertise and demonstrated leadership experience spanning airborne radar systems, tactical mobile ground-based support systems, and security driven hardware architectures progressing into high rate production environments.

This leader will provide authoritative hardware direction across multiple development and sustainment contracts, mentor engineering teams, partner closely with suppliers and cross-functional organizations, and proactively manage technical risk across the entire hardware portfolio. This position is critical to program stability and continuity due to current bandwidth constraints and limited FoS-level cleared hardware leadership coverage. The role resides within the Cabin Production Design Support section supporting the Advanced Sensor Program (ASP) and requires the ability to operate effectively between Raytheon’s Plano, TX and McKinney, TX facilities.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the senior hardware technical leader responsible for driving FoS level alignment across engineering, production, operations, suppliers, and program leadership.
  • Lead complex hardware investigations, providing decisive technical direction, ensuring thorough root-cause resolution, and safeguarding hardware performance, security, reliability, and production readiness.
  • Shape and influence hardware requirements, specifications, and design decisions—both internally and with suppliers—to maintain technical rigor, requirement integrity, and system-level cohesion across contracts.
  • Communicate critical technical issues, risks, and cross-contract impacts with clarity to leadership and customers, including actionable recommendations and strategic paths to resolution
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical elevation for hardware engineering teams to strengthen execution across the entire hardware lifecycle.
  • Maintain proactive ownership of technical risk across a Family of Systems, ensuring issues affecting production, manufacturing, supplier performance, or engineering execution are rapidly identified and driven to closure.
  • Ability to travel periodically to different Raytheon facilities, suppliers, and/or customer sites to support in-person meetings, system integration efforts, and on-site investigations (up to 25%)

What You Will Learn:

  • Collaborating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while supporting multiple contractual initiatives, including the preparation and execution of formal program reviews
  • Develop expertise in crafting competitive proposals and negotiation strategies to drive successful outcomes in business environments
  • Develop effective risk management strategies to ensure the successful execution of complex projects

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the development, integration, and sustainment of complex radar systems
  • Experience implementing hardware solutions designed with emphasis on security-driven architecture
  • Experience conducting failure investigations and providing recommendations to address systemic issues and to prevent recurrence
  • Active and transferable US Government issued security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Proven experience in managing technical risks across multiple contracts, including the ability to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks to ensure successful program execution and deliverables.
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating technical risks
  • Familiarity with hardware compliance of Raytheon Quality Notes, J-STD-001, and ISO9001/AS9100 standards
  • Strong communication skills including report writing and presentations.
  • Leadership of small technical teams, including technical oversight and direction, cost estimation, tracking & reporting, coordination and preparation of detailed technical team reports
  • Experience with PRISM, SAP, and CMES
