Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a multi-skilled, self-motivated, energetic individual to work at our Colorado Springs, CO location as a Configuration Analyst/Data Management Controller supporting the JTAGS program. CM activities are key program drivers managing product configuration baselines (Functional, Allocated and Product) and releases. This position supports data management activities and will require working onsite full-time and at times in a closed-area work environment. As a member of the JTAGS team you will plan and coordinate the preparation of project documentation, such as CDRLs, engineering drawings, work instructions, processes, and procedures.
The Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) program within Northrop Grumman Defense Systems was developed and built by Northrop Grumman for the U.S. Army but has since transitioned to the USSF. JTAGS receives and processes data directly down-linked from the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) constellation of satellites, including Defense Support Program (DSP) and Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) sensors, and other infrared satellite sensors. JTAGS then disseminates near-real-time warning, alerting and cueing information on ballistic missile launches and other tactical events of interest throughout the theater using multiple communications networks.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain the configuration baseline for products, systems, or projects
- Ensure all components and documents are clearly identified and controlled
- Manage changes to configuration items through a formal change control process
- Coordinate and facilitate Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and processes for Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Trouble Reports (TRs), Drawing Revision Notices (DRNs)
- Maintain accurate records of configuration item status, including versions, changes, and current configurations
- Conduct configuration audits to verify compliance with documented requirements
- Ensure physical and functional configurations match their documentation
- Track and report on the implementation of approved changes
- Reviews engineering documentation, reports, specifications, and drawings to determine documentation and material requirements, ensure compliance with engineering specifications, and to ensure engineering orders reflect latest requirements
- Serve as an advocate for the program; coordinate and deliver Contract / Supplier Delivery Requirements Lists (CDRLs/SDRLs) to meet contractual requirements
- Analyzes proposed changes in product design to determine effect on documents such as drawings, test specifications, manuals, and ensures all documents have required approvals
- Conduct document peer reviews of unclassified and classified internal and deliverable material
- Develop solutions for complex issues independently
- Assist in implementing innovative concepts to streamline processes, maintain quality, and boost efficiency
- Prepares documentation for archive
- Notifies appropriate departments of any new or updated data
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining accurate records and audit trails
- Ensure proper handling, storage, retrieval, and protection of technical data and documentation
- Continuously evaluate and improve configuration and data management processes and tools
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, organizational policies, and contractual requirements regarding configuration and data management
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, project management, and other teams to support project objectives
- Provide timely configuration and data management support throughout the project lifecycle
Basic Qualifications
Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree with 3 years of experience or High School diploma / Equivalent with 9 years’ experience may be accepted in Lieu of degree
Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience or High School diploma / Equivalent with 12 years’ experience may be accepted in Lieu of degree
Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Knowledge of hardware configuration, data and change management principles and proficiency in the use of configuration management tools (Confluence, SharePoint)
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite programs: Word, Excel & PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe, and other related CM programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and cultivate positive, productive relationships with colleagues by leveraging strong interpersonal and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of configuration management functions, processes, and best practices
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 10007, or MIL-STD-973/IEEE 828
- Keen attention to detail for managing complex datasets and configuration items
- Self-motivated and able to effectively work with all levels of the organization
- Strong written and verbal communications skills along with the ability to understand and communicate technically oriented material
- Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of configuration data
- Experience supporting audits and compliance activities
