A Day in the Life
The Principal Supply Chain Planner is a key member of the Integrated Supply Center of Excellence (COE), responsible for driving best-in-class material planning capabilities across the enterprise through Blue Yonder planning solutions. This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for Material Planning, providing functional leadership, governance, system expertise, process standardization, user support, and continuous improvement to ensure effective planning execution across manufacturing sites and business units.A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Serve as the day-to-day Material Planning SME for Blue Yonder, supporting planners, buyer/planners, sites, and business partners with process questions, system usage, exception management, and issue resolution.
- Partner with Material Planning, Supply Planning, Production Planning, Procurement, IT, Manufacturing, and site teams to identify opportunities to improve planning execution and planner effectiveness.
- Support the implementation, optimization, and continuous enhancement of Blue Yonder Material Planning capabilities and related planning technologies.
- Use planning data, KPIs, dashboards, and operational metrics to identify adoption gaps, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate planning workshops, training sessions, user forums, and knowledge-sharing activities to increase planner capability and adoption of best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning Center of Excellence
- Serve as a primary functional expert for Materials Planning across the global supply chain supporting both process and planning excellence.
- Be part of the team who own and maintain global material planning standards, governance, and best practices.
- Provide advanced user support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for Blue Yonder material planning processes.
- Partner with IT and system support teams to identify, prioritize, and implement system enhancements.
- Lead root cause analysis of material planning exceptions, system performance issues, and data integrity challenges.
- Ensure material planning parameters, system configurations, and master data support optimal planning outcomes.
- Act as the escalation point for complex material planning and Blue Yonder process issues.
Planning Process Excellence
- Drive standardization of material planning processes across sites and business units.
- Develop and maintain planning playbooks, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor system adoption, PO Conversion, planning effectiveness metrics, and material planning data quality.
- Develop and maintain planning dashboards, reports, and insights using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL, or similar analytics platforms.
- Provide executive-ready insights and recommendations that help leaders understand planning performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance inventory management, service levels, and planner productivity.
- Identify opportunities to automate planning activities and improve planner efficiency.
Capability Development
- Train, coach, and mentor material planners /buyers on Blue Yonder functionality and planning best practices.
- Support onboarding of new planners and planning organizations.
- Champion adoption of new planning capabilities and system enhancements.
- Develop enterprise knowledge of planning systems, processes, and analytics.
Strategic Projects and Deployment
- Support Blue Yonder implementations, upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
- Lead planning process workstreams during system deployments and business integrations.
- Partner with Tech COE, IT, and site planning teams to ensure successful execution of planning initiatives.
- Support business readiness, testing, training, and change management activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of supply chain planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Expert-level knowledge of material planning concepts, MRP, inventory management, planning parameters, and supply planning processes.
- Advanced proficiency with Blue Yonder Material Planning solutions.
- Strong understanding of planning master data, supply planning analytics, and system integration processes.
- Experience leading cross-functional process improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supporting, configuring, optimizing, or implementing Blue Yonder planning systems.
- Experience within a Supply Chain Center of Excellence environment.
- Blue Yonder certification or equivalent advanced system expertise.
- Experience supporting global planning organizations.
- Knowledge of SAP ERP and supply chain execution processes.
- Experience supporting planning system transformations and digital supply chain initiatives.
- APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.
- Ability to influence without authority
- Experience in an ERP system (SAP or BPCS)

- Build scalable material planning processes that enable long-term operational excellence.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and Material Planning expert across the Integrated Supply COE and Global Supply Chain organization.
