PostgreSQL Database Engineer (Mid-Level)
The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a skilled Mid-Level PostgreSQL Database Engineer to support modernization efforts in a customer environment. This role focuses on database development, schema optimization, and performance tuning on a cloud-based PostgreSQL environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with stored procedures, triggers, query optimization, and data integrity controls.
Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, packages, and views in PostgreSQL.
Analyze and tune SQL queries for performance and scalability.
Support schema design, normalization, refactoring, and dependency analysis.
Collaborate on database integration across legacy and modernized systems.
Assist in migration efforts involving Oracle and PostgreSQL.
Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions involving indexing, partitioning, and execution plan analysis.
Apply best practices for data integrity, concurrency, and transaction management.
Support development teams by providing database expertise for API and application interactions.
Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and data modeling workshops.
Ensure compliance with GovCloud security controls including IAM, encryption, and auditing.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
3–5 years of hands-on experience as a database engineer or database developer.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required.
Strong experience developing stored procedures, triggers, and SQL logic for PostgreSQL.
Strong experience reviewing PL/SQL code and reverse engineering Oracle schemas.
Proven expertise with performance tuning, indexing strategies, query plans, and workload analysis.
Experience analyzing schema dependencies, constraints, and database objects.
Familiarity with database migration concepts and tools.
Ability to troubleshoot database issues in distributed integration environments
Desired:
Experience modernizing data systems for DoW customers.
Experience migrating databases to PostgreSQL using migration automation tools.
Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments with DevSecOps pipelines.
Working Conditions
Hybrid work with support at CACI facilities, customer sites, or remote depending on project needs.
May require infrequent travel for technical workshops, customer engagement, or integration events.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
