Portfolio Manager - Options-Based ETFs & Systematic Investment Strategies, VP - State Street Investment Management
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, highly analytical, and entrepreneurial Portfolio Manager to join our ETF investment team and help build the next generation of options-based ETFs in the Americas.
This role combines day-to-day portfolio management responsibilities with product innovation, quantitative research, and ETF business development. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role managing ETF portfolios, overseeing basket activity and fund operations, developing new investment solutions, and partnering across trading, capital markets, product, compliance, and risk teams to deliver best-in-class client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
- Serve as a portfolio manager for a range of ETF strategies, including options and swap-based, and outcome-oriented investment solutions.
- Oversee daily portfolio management activities, including portfolio monitoring, rebalancing, trading decisions, cash management, and risk oversight.
- Monitor portfolio exposures, derivatives positions, liquidity, and risk metrics to ensure alignment with investment objectives and guidelines.
- Support trading activities across equities, ETFs, listed options, FLEX options, and related instruments.
Product Development & Innovation
- Partner closely with Product Development to design, launch, and enhance innovative ETF solutions.
- Research and develop new investment concepts focused on options-based investing, income generation, downside protection, and outcome-oriented strategies.
- Evaluate competitive products and identify emerging opportunities within the ETF marketplace.
- Collaborate with index providers and research partners on the development of new benchmarks and investment methodologies.
Research & Analytics
- Conduct quantitative research on options-based strategies and portfolio construction methodologies.
- Develop and maintain backtesting frameworks to evaluate strategy performance across varying market environments.
- Analyze option pricing, volatility dynamics, market structure, and trading implementation considerations.
- Provide investment insights that contribute to portfolio enhancements and new product development.
Capital Markets & ETF Ecosystem
- Partner with Capital Markets teams to enhance ETF liquidity, trading efficiency, and market quality.
- Work closely with market makers, authorized participants, and liquidity providers to improve ETF execution and secondary market trading.
- Contribute to the development of scalable ETF operating and trading processes.
Risk Management & Operational Excellence
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams to strengthen controls and minimize operational risk.
- Enhance portfolio management processes to improve scalability, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in investment oversight and governance processes to ensure adherence to investment guidelines, regulatory requirements, and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Help establish best practices for managing increasingly complex options-based ETF portfolios.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience managing options-based strategies, buffer ETFs, covered call ETFs, structured outcome products, or related investment solutions.
- Strong knowledge of listed options, derivatives, volatility markets, and portfolio risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex portfolios and make sound investment decisions in dynamic market environments.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Experience in portfolio management, ETF management, derivatives investing, quantitative investing, indexing, or related investment disciplines.
- Experience working with ETF creation/redemption baskets and ETF trading workflows.
- Experience partnering with capital markets, trading desks, and liquidity providers.
- Experience with indexing, rules-based investing, or index research.
- Experience conducting options research and developing quantitative backtesting frameworks.
- CFA designation or progress toward completion.

Salary Range:
$120,000 - $202,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
