The Failure Analysis Lab (FAL) located in McKinney, Texas, promotes process and product improvement through failure analysis and analytical services. Our team consists of a staff of engineers and scientists with varied backgrounds (EE, ME, Chemistry, Materials Science, Metallurgy, etc.) and broad experience. Team members provide support to Raytheon programs, suppliers, and end users by conducting thorough investigations of failure events and supporting a variety of data collection activities to address the changing needs of the electronics and defense industries.

The PCB Inspector is an onsite role in McKinney, TX. Relocation is not available for this role.

What You Will Do

  • Perform incoming Printed Circuit Board (PCB) coupon inspection for lot acceptance in support of RTX programs.  
  • Evaluate microsections prepared by PCB suppliers to compare design features to drawing and industry standard requirements to identify fabrication defects or non-conformances.  
  • Receive and log inspection materials, utilizing optical microscopes, capturing measurement data, performing micro-sectioning (grinding & polishing), performing D-coupon testing, and comparing related specifications.  
  • Prepare formal inspection reports.
  • Work directly with the team lead to clarify requirements, manage priorities, and communicate issues to ensure the customer's needs are met
  • Process incoming inspection requests using designated company tools and systems to ensure accurate routing and documentation.

                  

Qualifications You Must Have

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a technical environment (e.g., engineering/test lab, Circuit Card Assembly shop, etc.)
  • Experience performing visual inspection with optical microscopes.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electronics and familiarity with electrical characterization tools (e.g., DMMs, power supplies, etc.)
  • Ability to independently author technical reports and communicate inspection results to key stakeholders.

  • Ability to complete assignments with exceptional problem-solving skills and perform in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Electrical or Electronics background experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to work independently.
  • Strong customer (internal & external) interaction skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of PCB fabrication materials and methods.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with IPC specifications for PCBs (e.g., IPC-6012, 6013, 6018, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

The salary range for this role is 43,400 USD - 82,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
