The following position is to join our RTX Corporate Enterprise Applications Team:
The Operations Director – Application Development is responsible for leading the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of enterprise applications, including SAP ECC on HANA and related systems. This role oversees global application development teams, ensures the stability and reliability of critical business systems, and manages all ongoing operational (“keep the lights on”) activities that support business continuity, compliance, and user experience.
The Director partners closely with technology leadership, value stream owners, and business stakeholders to ensure applications and platforms meet organizational needs while maintaining high standards of performance, security, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Provide strategic leadership for global application development and operations teams.
Manage department budgeting, staffing, supplier relationships, and service-level performance.
Drive professional development, skill building, and cross-training within the organization.
Maintain an operational culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Support user groups and business stakeholders across functions and geographies.
Engage in industry collaboration to maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices.
Experience using the Scaled Agile development methodology
Application Development Oversight
Lead design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise applications.
Ensure adherence to development governance, UX standards, and quality assurance protocols.
Oversee regression testing, transport processes, and Change Control Board (CCB) activities.
Manage interface maintenance, ensuring reliability and alignment with business workflows.
SAP ECC on HANA Management
Oversee SAP ECC on HANA updates, patches, enhancements, and performance tuning.
Ensure high-quality execution of master data maintenance, job scheduling, and archiving.
Lead global deployment readiness and support SAP-related operational simulations.
Operational Responsibilities (“Keep the Lights On”)
Responsible for the continued stability, security, and compliance of enterprise applications through:
Break fixes and issue/ticket resolution
System upgrades and vulnerability patching
Small site deployments and application expansions
Merger, Acquisition, and Divestiture support
SOX audit controls and compliance support
Qualifications You Must have
Bachelor’s degree in: Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required with 14 years of direct work experience.
12+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, application development, or enterprise systems management.
Strong leadership experience managing technical teams and complex application landscapes.
Expertise in SAP ECC and HANA technologies with a proven track record of supporting compliance-driven environments (SOX, MMAS, DFARS, EX/IM).
Experience in governance, vendor management, and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration.

The salary range for this role is 186,200 USD - 353,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
