What's Encouraged Daily
Oversee third-party design/vendor firms in developing UPW and water reclamation systems, including distribution loops, pretreatment, RO, and degasification systems.
Review and validate third-party design work (P&IDs, equipment specifications, system layouts) to ensure compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards (EPA, RCRA, Clean Water Act).
Conduct technical evaluations of third-party designs, verifying performance metrics such as water cleanliness meet manufacturing requirements.
Collaborate with design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal customers to align UPW/water system designs with facility requirements and project timelines.
Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party designs, resolving issues related to regulatory compliance, constructability, and environmental impact.
Oversee commissioning and testing phases, coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup using BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and control systems (PLC, SCADA).
Provide technical guidance to third-party designers on industry procedures; monitor project progress and ensure timely delivery of design work.
Apply AI-enabled tools to automate standard tasks and increase team productivity, including experience and/or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows into current or future processes.
How to Qualify:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; PE or Certified High Purity Water Specialist certification a plus.
Proven experience in UPW/water systems engineering, including at least 2 years being responsible for third-party design or managing design processes for wastewater, chemical, or solid waste treatment systems.
Solid understanding of UPW/industrial water system design, material selection, passivation requirements, biological treatment, filtration, and hazardous waste disposal.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (SEMI standards, ASME/BPE high-purity piping, Clean Water Act, local environmental codes).
Proficiency reviewing engineering work (P&IDs, 3D models, specifications) using AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks, with strong project management and communication skills.
What Sets You Apart:
Experience supervising third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with exacting wet mechanical system requirements.
Knowledge of sustainable design practices, including water conservation, energy-efficient hydronic systems, and IECC compliance.
Familiarity with clash detection and design integration using BIM tools; experience with PLC/SCADA control systems for design coordination.
