Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our Marine Systems team as a Principal MRP Planner based out of Sunnyvale, CA. Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the development, manufacture, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines.
What you’ll get to do:
Plan and analyze strategic manufacturing schedules, enterprise resource planning, and material procurement schedule based on needs of assembly demands, component replenishments, substitute parts or materials, production set ups, engineering changes and enterprise supplies in order to support program goals and contract deliverables.
Supports programs from their inception with request for pricing information, to their end with reconciliation efforts.
Review make/buy product structures and machine capacity to determine if Outside Vendor (OV) sourcing is needed. Set-up, develop and maintain material masters, purchase requisitions, production routings, delivery documentation, and OV requirements in SAP. Collaborates cross-functionally with GSC, Quality, Production and Program teams if OV issues/delays arise.
Ensures quality conformance by reviewing parts lists, drawings, and Bill of Materials to ensure configuration requirements are met at the end product. The incumbent will resolve schedule, material requirement or business system problems with cross-functional representatives, approve part or material requisitions, and initiates production and purchase change orders. The incumbent may additionally resolve master schedules, production problems, and negotiates lead times. Critical thinking skills to resolve ad hoc and systematic challenges are necessary.
Develop and maintain a sound manufacturing schedule of assigned program and processes by reviewing MBOM structure raw material requirements, semi-finished goods and assembly lead times, bottleneck resources, inventory reservations and pegging and other relevant data elements to ensure the end product will meet the program's internal schedule.
The incumbent will participate in scheduling reviews with Operations management, and provide support to the manufacturing program management, global supply chain, and operations scheduling teams.

Basic Qualifications Principal Production Planner and Scheduler:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; Master's Degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience using advance Microsoft Office Applications (Excel Pivot Tables, V-Lookups and analyzing large data sets).
Experience with capacity planning in a bottleneck constrained environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or closely related area.
APICS Certification or APICS training.
Production planning experience in a heavy fabrication and machining environment.
Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing.
Experience with value stream mapping and lean principles.
Experience with data mining, Oracle, and SharePoint.
