The HP Z Mobile Workstations Portfolio Strategy Manager is an essential role within the Workstations Product Planning organization and is dedicated to creating innovative mobile computing solutions for our high-performance compute customers. As the Mobile Workstations Portfolio Strategy Manager, you will define the vision, roadmap, and product requirements for a future mobile workstation category that empowers specialized professionals to achieve their best work through seamless, high-performance mobile computing across their workflows
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as a thought leader on market trends, emerging technologies, customer needs, and overall workstation strategy.
- Develop strong customer relationships and a deep understanding of their end-to-end experience journey, serving as a champion for their needs and pain points across the organization
- Leverage market, customer, and competitive insights to anticipate emerging workflows and technology trends, translating them into actionable portfolio initiatives.
- Define the long-term strategy, vision, and direction for the mobile workstation portfolio (2–3 years out).
- Identify where to play (target segments, industries, personas, workloads) and how to win (performance, design, ecosystem, and experience).
- Partner with technology vendors, ISVs, and ODMs to identify and deliver new sources of customer and business value across the workstation portfolio.
- Evaluate portfolio performance (units, revenue, margin, PFV, ROI) and guide investment priorities to ensure sustained growth and competitiveness.
- Craft and communicate clear, compelling narratives about portfolio strategy, direction, and performance to drive executive understanding and alignment.
Experience, Knowledge & skills:
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Technical Product Manager or similar role in product planning and/or lifecycle management
- Ability to think strategically, balancing a broad range of internal and external factors when identifying opportunities and proposing solutions
- Strong business judgment, investigative, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse teams to ensure customer requirements are met
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Able to distil complex concepts into easily understood insights for executive consumption, direction or decision-making
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Business or related discipline
- MS or MBA preferred
The pay range for this role is $130,700 to $205,200 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
