Military Fellowship Program: Production Technician
NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. Responsibilities:
- Assemble complex electronic and mechanical components and subassemblies according to detailed diagrams and drawings.
- Perform quality inspections and tests on assembled products.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic assembly issues.
- Maintain and calibrate assembly tools and equipment.
- Document and report production activities and any discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in training and mentoring junior production technicians.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve assembly processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Currently serving as ACTIVE duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1+ years as a technician or in a related field.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing principles.
- Experience in a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment.
- Prior experience with electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
- Basic skills in assembly, soldering, and connectors
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- OSHA 10-Hour Training certification.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Essential Functions:
- Perform assembly tasks, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Operate and maintain assembly tools and equipment, requiring hand/finger dexterity.
- Stand for extended periods during the work shift.
- Work in potentially hazardous or loud environments, following safety protocols.
- Ability to travel may be required.
- For office roles, capability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
