And we’re driven by our Mission to alleviate pain, restore health and extend life for millions of people worldwide.The Manager of Operations leads a high-performing manufacturing organization responsible for delivering safe, compliant, high-quality medical devices on time and at optimized cost, while advancing Humacao’s vision to be the standard of excellence in machining through innovation, technology, and a skilled, motivated workforce. This leader owns operational performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and Innovation. The role requires strong financial acumen, structured problem-solving capability, Lean maturity, digital fluency, and the ability to build an accountable, engaged culture aligned to Medtronic’s Mission.
The Manager is accountable for accelerating the Medtronic Performance System (MPS), improving the Manufacturing Cluster Model, strengthening problem-solving culture, developing succession depth, and supporting strategic initiatives of new products ramp-up, Flow Acceleration, one piece flow connecting workflows, automation deployment, and Industry 5.0 roadmap execution. This role requires disciplined execution, cross-functional collaboration, and visible leadership presence on the floor.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
- Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
- Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
- Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
- Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.

Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one job area.
Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations Management, or related technical discipline.
Operational Leadership & Execution
- Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Compliance objectives.
- Monitor production performance and execute plans to meet customer demand and production schedules.
- Coordinate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, HR, and Finance to support operational execution.
- Support successful product transfers, process changes, and capacity expansion activities within assigned areas.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Promote a culture of accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing tools and structured problem-solving methodologies (A3, 5 Why, DMAIC) to address operational issues.
- Drive improvements in productivity, cycle time, quality, inventory, and waste reduction.
- Participate in Flow Acceleration and Operational Excellence initiatives across the manufacturing organization.
Financial & Resource Management
- Manage departmental budgets, labor utilization, and operational resources to achieve business objectives.
- Support capital planning and resource allocation decisions within assigned areas.
- Monitor performance indicators and implement actions to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Talent Development & Employee Engagement
- Develop supervisors and employees through coaching, performance management, and development planning.
- Build team capability by identifying training and development opportunities.
- Support succession planning efforts for key operational roles.
- Foster an inclusive, ethical, and high-performing work environment.
Digital & Manufacturing Technology
- Utilize data analytics and manufacturing systems to support operational decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation, digital tools, and process technology to improve performance.
- Support implementation and adoption of manufacturing technologies within assigned operations.
Experience
- 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in medical device or other regulated industries.
- 3–5 years of direct people leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading supervisors, technicians, and/or production personnel.
- Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting production planning, resource management, and operational performance metrics.
- Machining or advanced manufacturing experience preferred.
