Manufacturing Engineer
SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in supporting production, quality, and project execution. This is a highly involved, cross-functional position that bridges Engineering, Production, QA, and Project Management.
This position supports Motion’s initiatives to improve profitability through improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, and Material Flow.

JOB DUTIES
Hands-On Shop Support
Work directly on the shop floor supporting UL508A control panel builds, cable harness assemblies, motor assemblies, and pneumatic systems.
Assist with troubleshooting production and quality issues alongside Shop and QA teams.
Documentation & Manufacturing Support
Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Develop and maintain work instructions.
Interpret customer drawings and ensure manufacturability.
Create and maintain production lot travelers.
Revise schematics and drawings in AutoCAD/Eplan
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the primary liaison between the Shop and Project Engineers/Account Managers.
Provide status updates, communicate issues, and obtain clarification as needed.
Work closely with the Shop Supervisor to support tooling development and operator training.
Collaborate with Design Engineering on new builds, including support for FAI and FAT.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Partner with QA to reduce rework and RMAs.
Lead and support root cause investigations, CARs, risk assessments, and post-mortem reviews.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
Project Support
Serve as backup to Project Engineers for estimating labor and material costs.
Support cost control and process optimization efforts.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering) and at least three (3) to five (5) years of applicable design experience.
Electrical background preferred, particularly with UL508A control panels and industrial electrical systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Willing and able to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and pneumatic systems.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and translate them into manufacturable processes.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
Process-oriented with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Must display a genuine respect and knowledge for workload and issues facing manufacturing operations and shop floor members.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Works as a key member of cross functional teams & must display a can-do attitude that sets an example for others.
Strong mechanical and math skills and ability to formulate ideas and create design solutions for internal and external customer needs.
Must be able to develop realistic project timelines and work independently to accomplish results on time.
Project management skills to oversee a project through idea, design, manufacturing, and implementation stages.
Proficient use of CAD software. Competent use of Microsoft Office suite software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
This role is essential to ensuring smooth execution from design through production while maintaining high quality and efficiency standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Some travel may be necessary to support project responsibilities.

If you are hired at Motion, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
Compensation is from $81,563.33 to $112,099.68 annually
