Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Manager Test Inspection 3 to support the Quality & Mission Assurance function at our Elkton, Maryland site.

 

The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers.  The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

 

Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Responsibilities

  • Fosters a culture of quality and safety performance
  • Provide daily operations guidance to a team of managers and individual contributors supporting receiving inspection, in process inspection, and calibration
  • Ensure the inspection tools, equipment, and process control documents adhere to quality requirements.  
  • Works with cross functional management to prioritize manufacturing and product testing.
  • Able to identify and resolve quality related issues expeditiously and proficiently.
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical objectives
  • Drive culture change toward more proactive risk mitigation, data driven decision making, and continuous improvement. 
  • Support Return to Green, Failure Analysis, and Corrective Action activities with focus on full resolution and future risk mitigation. 

Success in this role will require sound judgment, innovative thinking and excellent interpersonal/management skills to plan, motivate and accomplish goals through your staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Eight years of managerial and quality experience in a manufacturing environment.

·       Ability to effectively lead a diverse group of workers across multiple shifts while exemplifying Northrop Grumman Leadership Behaviors and Northrop Grumman values. 

·       Knowledge and application of GD&T, AS9102, AS9100 and RCCA

  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to acquire a security clearance which requires U.S.A. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • SAP, Solumina, and/or TipQA experience
  • Supplier Quality Experience
  • Experience with multi-shift operations
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC)
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Quality related certifications (CQI, CMQ/OE, Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt)

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.  Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
