We have an exciting remote opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Manager, Subcontracts to join the Military Engines Contracts Management Organization (MECMO) team based out of East Harford, Connecticut!  

What You Will Do:

The selected candidate will support a combination of tasks including subcontract management, document drafting, communicating cross-functionally and some data entry, in support of Military Engines Contracts Management Organization (MECMO).  

As the Subcontracts Manager, you will be the primary focal point for suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding subcontract requirements, flow-downs, interpretation of terms; therefore, strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. You will have the opportunity to exercise discretion and work independently as well as provide leadership and expertise in developing innovative solutions to complex issues. This position requires significant interaction with various managers within and outside the organization. The successful candidate will be an independent learner and possess demonstrated team working skills. You should possess strong document drafting skills, an understanding of aerospace business and legal issues, and familiarity with CORE process improvement tools.

This role will require you to:

  • Serve as the subcontracting lead for development of supplier RFPs, negotiations, subcontract agreements, execution, and daily administration.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with prime contract terms, FAR/DFARS flow‑downs, and company policy.
  • Manage subcontract scope, funding, delivery schedules, changes, and modifications.
  • Review supplier proposals for completeness, accuracy, compliance, and alignment with prime contract requirements.
  • Drive closure on subcontract‑related issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders, escalating only when necessary.
  • Support fact‑finding, price/cost analysis activities, and negotiations with suppliers.
  • Draft statements of work, amendments, change orders, and related subcontract documents.
  • Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, Finance, and Program Counsel.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of subcontract or contract management experience; OR an Advanced degree and 5+ years of subcontract or contract management experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen - this position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong familiarity with FAR/DFARS, including requirements applicable to government subcontracting.
  • Experience preparing, evaluating, and negotiating supplier proposals.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
