Manager, Finance Professional Development Program
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Finance Professional Development Program (FPDP) is Abbott's premier undergraduate rotational program designed to develop early-career professionals into future finance leaders through a combination of challenging assignments, formal learning, mentorship, and leadership development. FPDP participants are primarily recruited through Abbott's Finance Summer Intern Program and complete four six-month rotational assignments over a two-year period.
The Manager, Finance Professional Development Program plays a critical role in managing and enhancing the participant experience while ensuring the successful execution of program operations, talent development initiatives, and recruitment activities. This role provides indirect leadership to approximately 40 program participants across multiple global regions and serves as a key liaison among finance leaders, talent development teams, recruiters, and other program stakeholders.
The Manager, Finance Professional Development Program reports to the Senior Manager, Finance Development.
What You’ll Work On
- Support the recruitment of approximately 30 Finance Summer Interns annually through campus recruiting activities, professional organization events, and internal and external talent sourcing initiatives.
- Support the recruitment and selection of approximately 20 new FPDP participants annually and lead onboarding activities to ensure a successful transition into the program.
- Foster participant development through regular coaching, career guidance, performance feedback, and ongoing support throughout the program experience.
- Provide leadership and oversight to four participant-led program committees, ensuring alignment with program objectives and professional development goals.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute FPDP events and learning experiences in partnership with program members, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Manage core program processes, including participant interviews, rotational assignment planning and matching, development planning, and global mobility support.
- Oversee procurement, budgeting, and payment processes associated with program services, including training programs, housing arrangements, and relocation-related services.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including Recruiting Team Captains, Regional Champions, Abbott Talent Development (ATD), and Early Careers teams, to evaluate program effectiveness, drive continuous improvement, and ensure consistency across regions.
- Maintain accurate participant records and program data within Workday.
- Manage and update the FPDP SharePoint site and other program communication resources.
- Travel approximately 15-20%, including domestic and international travel, to support recruiting, development initiatives, and program events.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Key Skills
- Five or more years of experience in Finance, Human Resources, Talent Development, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of human resources policies, practices, and compliance requirements.
- Strong program management and project management capabilities, including planning, execution, and stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Experience influencing and leading individuals and teams in a matrixed or virtual environment.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop talent at various stages of professional growth.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

The base pay for this position is
$99,300.00 – $198,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
