Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Spacecraft Flight Operations  – Manager Level 2 to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead a diverse team of engineers & operators (10 – 15 employees) as well as cross functional integrated program teams (IPT)
  • Coordinate with Program Management team to meet contractual requirements on cost and on schedule
  • Provide status reporting through both the functional and program reporting branches.
  • Measure and report program performance metrics utilizing Confluence, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Project, JIRA, etc.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and across multiple geo-separated sites, with internal and external customers, in written and oral format.
  • Provide mission operations support to the multiple NSS Satellite programs. 
  • Provide mission operations support to Satellite programs including becoming & maintaining Flight Controller certification
  • Work with systems engineers to conduct anomaly review board investigations as necessary. 
  • Support operations readiness activities including configuration control board and other customer meetings
  • Maintain standards associated with the established Integrated/Developmental Operations functional group processes.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, performance evaluation, and manage tasks for the Operations & Maintenance / Sustaining Engineering team.
  • May require travel ~ 10% of the time. 
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience.  
  • Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance with the ability to obtain SCI at time of application
  • Ability to work within, task, and manage a group of diversified individuals with varying backgrounds to achieve mission success.
  • Prior experience conducting on-orbit mission operations and resolving satellite and ground system anomalies.
  • Experience as a direct manager for an engineering team (i.e. performance appraisals, staffing, etc.)
  • Experience writing technical documents for external customers
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills, including ability to make persuasive presentations to external customers at milestone reviews

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience working on government systems and/or government process environment
  • Experience as a cost account manager (CAM) using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience maintaining hardware and software configurations in an ops center
  • Experience with planning and executing on orbit test campaigns
  • Leadership experience within a diverse team of engineers/operators

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,500.00 - $219,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
