Summary of Role

GlobalFoundries is seeking a communications leader to serve as the primary communications partner for our Malta, New York manufacturing site and lead strategic communications initiatives that support the Quality organization.

This role combines site communications, executive communications, media relations, community engagement, employee recognition and employer branding to strengthen employee engagement, elevate leadership visibility and enhance GF's reputation with employees, media, community stakeholders, policymakers and prospective talent.

The position serves as a trusted advisor to the Malta site general manager while partnering closely with Quality leaders to develop communications campaigns and engagement strategies that reinforce GF's commitment to quality, manufacturing excellence and customer trust.

Working closely with Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Government Affairs, Quality and business leaders, this individual will help position GF as a technology leader, manufacturing innovator, community partner and employer of choice across New York and the broader region.

Essential responsibilities:

Site communications and leadership support

  • Serve as the lead communications partner for the Malta manufacturing site and trusted advisor to site leadership.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies that support business priorities, employee engagement, operational excellence and organizational alignment.
  • Lead communications for major site initiatives, workforce programs, leadership visits, employee events and organizational changes.
  • Ensure site communications align with corporate messaging while addressing local priorities and employee needs.

Quality communications and strategic campaigns

  • Partner with Quality leadership to develop and execute communications strategies that strengthen awareness, engagement and alignment across the organization.
  • Create campaigns and content that reinforce GF's quality culture, customer focus, operational excellence and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support major quality initiatives, milestones and programs through employee communications, leadership messaging and storytelling.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to ensure consistent communication of quality priorities and achievements.

Executive communications and leadership visibility

  • Support communications for the Malta site general manager and other site leaders, including presentations, talking points, speeches and employee communications.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen leadership visibility through employee forums, community engagement, media opportunities and digital channels.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications to support executive thought leadership and strategic positioning initiatives.
  • Provide communications counsel during organizational changes and business-critical initiatives.

Media relations and reputation management

  • Serve as the primary communications contact for New York and regional media.
  • Develop proactive media relations and storytelling opportunities highlighting innovation, advanced manufacturing, workforce development and economic impact.
  • Coordinate media activities, site visits and announcements in partnership with Corporate Communications.
  • Support reputation management, stakeholder engagement and crisis communications activities as needed.

Community engagement and stakeholder relations

  • Lead community engagement activities across New York's Capital Region.
  • Partner with Government Affairs to support relationships with policymakers, economic development organizations and industry associations.
  • Manage partnerships with educational institutions, workforce development organizations and community leaders.
  • Coordinate employee volunteerism and community outreach programs that support GF's business and talent objectives.

Recognition programs and employee engagement

  • Program manage GF's global employee recognition programs, including the annual GF Awards program.
  • Lead communications, planning and stakeholder coordination for award nominations, selection processes, recognition events and employee engagement campaigns.
  • Develop storytelling and communications that celebrate employee achievements and reinforce GF's culture and values.
  • Measure participation and engagement, identifying opportunities to strengthen the impact of recognition programs.

Employer brand and talent attraction

  • Partner with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition to strengthen GF's employer brand across New York and the Northeast.
  • Develop employee stories and workforce narratives that showcase GF's culture, innovation and career opportunities.
  • Help position GF as an employer of choice for engineering, technical and manufacturing talent.

Content, storytelling and digital engagement

  • Develop compelling content across internal, external and executive communications channels.
  • Create stories that highlight employee accomplishments, site achievements, innovation, quality excellence and community impact.
  • Support leadership visibility and employer branding through social and digital channels.
  • Ensure content aligns with GF brand standards, messaging frameworks and editorial guidelines.

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in communications, public relations, employee communications, media relations or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders and providing strategic communications counsel.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing communication strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling and presentation development capabilities.
  • Experience managing media relations and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, technology, semiconductor or industrial environments.
  • Experience supporting site-based organizations or operational leadership teams.
  • Experience leading community engagement, public affairs or corporate citizenship initiatives.
  • Experience supporting executive visibility, thought leadership and social media programs.
  • Experience managing communications during organizational change, business growth or major strategic initiatives.

Expected Salary Range

$88,000.00 - $154,000.00
