Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries is seeking a communications leader to serve as the primary communications partner for our Burlington, Vermont manufacturing site and a key communications advisor supporting the Central Engineering & Infrastructure organization.
This role combines site communications, executive communications, media relations, community engagement and employer branding to strengthen employee engagement, elevate leadership visibility and enhance GF's reputation with employees, media, community stakeholders, policymakers and prospective talent. The position serves as a trusted advisor to the Burlington site leader and the senior vice president of Central Engineering & Infrastructure, helping communicate the business priorities, investments and innovations that support GF's continued growth.
Working closely with Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Government Affairs and business leaders, this individual will help position GF as a technology leader, manufacturing innovator, community partner and employer of choice across Vermont and the broader region.
Essential Responsibilities:
Site communications and leadership support
- Serve as the lead communications partner for the Burlington manufacturing site.
- Advise site leadership on communications strategies that support business priorities, employee engagement and organizational alignment.
- Develop and execute communication plans for major site initiatives, operational updates, workforce programs, leadership visits and employee events.
- Lead planning and communications for site town halls, employee forums, recognition programs and leadership engagement activities.
- Monitor employee sentiment and organizational feedback, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Ensure site communications align with corporate messaging while addressing local priorities and employee needs.
Executive communications and leadership visibility
- Serve as strategic communications advisor to the Burlington site leader and the senior vice president of Central Engineering & Infrastructure.
- Develop communication strategies that support manufacturing excellence, infrastructure investments, technology innovation, workforce initiatives and organizational priorities.
- Provide counsel on employee communications, leadership messaging, organizational changes and high-profile business initiatives.
- Create executive communications materials including presentations, speeches, talking points, videos and leadership communications.
- Develop communication approaches that strengthen visibility, credibility and engagement for site and enterprise leaders.
- Identify and coordinate opportunities to showcase leaders through employee forums, media interviews, community events, industry conferences, government engagements, social media and digital channels.
- Partner with Corporate Communications to build executive thought leadership and support strategic positioning initiatives.
- Support executive communications related to major capital projects, infrastructure investments, site expansions and business-critical initiatives.
Media relations and reputation management
- Serve as the primary communications contact for Vermont and regional media.
- Develop proactive media relations strategies that increase awareness of GF's technology leadership, manufacturing excellence, workforce development and economic impact.
- Build and maintain relationships with local, state and regional media, industry organizations and key influencers.
- Identify and develop story opportunities highlighting innovation, advanced manufacturing, talent development and community impact.
- Coordinate media interviews, site visits, announcements, social media and press activities in partnership with Corporate Communications.
- Support issues management and crisis communications activities as needed.
- Protect and strengthen GF's reputation through effective communications planning and stakeholder engagement.
Community engagement and stakeholder relations
- Lead GF's community engagement strategy and activities across Vermont.
- Partner with Government Affairs to support engagement with state and local policymakers, economic development organizations and industry associations, ensuring alignment of communications, stakeholder outreach and strategic positioning.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen GF's visibility, credibility and influence throughout Vermont's business, education and civic communities.
- Build strong relationships with educational institutions, workforce development organizations, business groups, community leaders and nonprofit partners.
- Support STEM education, workforce development and talent pipeline initiatives that align with GF's long-term business objectives.
- Coordinate employee volunteer activities, charitable programs and community outreach efforts.
- Represent GF at community meetings, events and stakeholder forums.
- Measure and communicate the impact of community engagement programs and partnerships.
Employer brand and talent attraction
- Partner with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition to strengthen GF's employer brand across Vermont and the Northeast.
- Develop employee stories, recruitment content and workforce narratives that showcase GF's culture, innovation and career opportunities.
- Support recruiting initiatives, university partnerships, hiring events and workforce development programs.
- Create content that highlights employee achievements, technical excellence and career growth opportunities.
- Amplify employer brand messaging through earned media, social media, community partnerships and internal channels.
- Help position GF as an employer of choice for engineering, technical and manufacturing talent.
Content, storytelling and digital engagement
- Develop compelling content across internal, external and executive communications channels.
- Create stories that highlight employee accomplishments, site milestones, innovation, technology leadership and community impact.
- Partner with Corporate Communications to increase visibility for Burlington leaders, manufacturing initiatives and business achievements through digital and social media channels.
- Support executive and site leader social media strategies that strengthen leadership visibility, employer branding and community relations.
- Ensure communications are consistent with GF brand standards, messaging frameworks and editorial guidelines.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in communications, public relations, employee communications, media relations or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting senior leaders and providing strategic communications counsel.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing communication strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Strong writing, editing, storytelling and presentation development capabilities.
- Experience managing media relations and external stakeholder engagement.
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence across multiple levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and competing priorities independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing, technology, semiconductor or industrial environments.
- Experience supporting site-based organizations or operational leadership teams.
- Experience leading community engagement, public affairs or corporate citizenship initiatives.
- Experience supporting executive visibility, thought leadership and social media programs.
- Experience managing communications during organizational change, business growth or major strategic initiatives.
Expected Salary Range
$88,000.00 - $154,000.00The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
