Ciena
Gurugram Lead / Staff Full-time

As the global leader in high-speed connectivity, Ciena is committed to a people-first approach. Our teams enjoy a culture focused on prioritizing a flexible work environment that empowers individual growth, well-being, and belonging. We’re a technology company that leads with our humanity—driving our business priorities alongside meaningful social, community, and societal impact.

Ciena’s NextGen Routing and Switching portfolio relies on advanced PCB design expertise to enable the development of complex networking products. This role contributes to the design, verification, and release of high-complexity printed circuit boards while ensuring alignment with established engineering, manufacturing, and quality standards. The position collaborates across hardware, mechanical, and manufacturing disciplines to deliver production-ready designs.

How you will make an impact:

  • Design placement and routing for high-complexity multilayer printed circuit boards (12–28 layers) in accordance with design requirements, constraints, and Ciena standards.
  • Collaborate with hardware designers, participate in design reviews, and provide PCB design schedule input.
  • Develop and maintain PCB CAD footprint and decal libraries following Ciena standards.
  • Develop PCB layer stackups and package electrical and mechanical design data while identifying missing information, schematic errors, and data inconsistencies.
  • Execute DRC, CAM, DFM, and DFT activities, including targeting 100% DFT test point coverage and meeting DFM requirements.
  • Document PCB design packages, including fabrication and assembly drawings, and oversee design review, checking, and approval processes before release.
  • Coordinate prototype PCB quotations and orders and resolve technical queries from PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers.

The must haves:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Engineering OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience designing complex printed circuit boards.
  • Application of PCB design techniques for high-speed digital, analog, and RF circuitry, matched length routing, controlled impedance, differential pairs, fine-pitch components including BGAs, and 12–28 layer boards; knowledge of micro-vias and blind/buried vias.
  • Application of PCB design using fabrication materials including FR4, flex, rigid materials, and multiple surface finishes.
  • Application of IPC standards including IPC-7351 and Telcordia GR-78-CORE, and manufacturing standards including DFM and DFT requirements for mass-producible PCB designs.
  • Utilization of Cadence Allegro, Specctra Router, Mentor PADS, Mentor DxDesigner, Cadence OrCAD, Valor, and CAM350 design tools, and ability to interpret electrical schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Nice to haves:

  • Certifications: IPC certification.
  • Knowledge of scripting and SKILL for PCB design automation.
  • Application of PCB fabrication and assembly concepts
